Dreaming of my Future Daughter 10/10/11

From the daycare floor you looked up at me

defiant, a child too smart- eyes too knowing

you said," Don't bring me here anymore,

they don't know math and they talk to me like I'm dumb."

Brown braids and acorn colored eyes

just like your father. I stood in awe as he

scooped you up and placed you on his shoulders

and we headed for home.

How could I have known you already daughter,

before you were even born?

How is it that I love you already,

and miss you more than I can say?
