Precognition. Chapter 5. Death.

Death is a release, he will come for me. He will take me beyond, take me to the world of the dead, where my Hummingbird is.

Far above me, through the water, dimmed, I hear a bird's song, too quiet to tell what sort. This is all I know Death is here, I am nearly gone. Hummingbird I am coming. Death I am ready, quick, take me now, before someone pulls me out.

Starry died that day, aged eighteen, drowned in a well. The authorities ruled it as suicide after much deliberation. She killed herself because she couldn't live without Hummingbird her best friend. This story is her thoughts and the memories she concentrated most on whilst drowning. That day wasn't too long ago, it was only last Halloween, but she is gone, never to return.
