A place where safety lies,

The house for which my soul cries—

The home that to me is denied,

A place that nowhere I can find.

Tis denied to me, this hovel of my dreams,

Far out of reach, though for it all seek,

Tis oceans away, and I feel led astray,

For what life is life far from the hearts chosen grace.

Will I ever go back then?

Ever be free,

From the chains that hold me down,

Will my eyes ever see

That glorious golden window,

Leading out to the sea,

That sea where my soul lies,

And my heart made its dream?
