Author's Note: So I think this is more a free verse poem, I hope you enjoy it.

December 7, 1941:

7:53 a.m. the first strike came,

At 8:55 came the second,

Coming only an hour and two minutes apart,

Both were over by 9:55,

Leaving over 3,000 to rest in peace.

The strikes sunk the Arizona,

And the West Virginia too,

Awoke a sleeping giant,

And others too.

We pretended the world was not at war,

And were punished for our ignorance.

Yet, America learned of victory,

And knowing that she grew stronger.

We may have lost the Battle of Pearl Harbor,

But we won the war.

Defeat is only shown in the eyes who seek it,

While victory is only controlled by those who want it most.
