Enjoy Chapter 12!
I laid on the couch in Justin's living room and stared at the ceiling. It had now been two days sense I left my house. I glanced at my phone and sighed, "No miss calls."
I couldn't believe that I had "been on my own" for two days and no one even dared to call. Mom hadn't called, neither did Dad or Jasmine. "Does my family care about me at all." I thought.
How could my parents tell their only son to give up on his dreams, and make him pursue their own. How selfish was that? My mother knew how much I wanted to become a musician. She saw the smile on my face when she bought me my first drum set when I was seven. It was bright red and had black drums. She even personalized it by putting my nickname on the cover not Alex but just "Al".
Justin came into the living room and sat next to me on the couch.
"What's up man?" I rolled over to face him placing my hand on my cheek.
He looked stunned, almost as if he had seen a ghost. I never saw Justin look so confused, since this girl named Pam broke up with him. She said he was too good looking. I knew this had to be something serious. I sat up and placed my hand on his shoulder.
Justin turned to me with a glum expression, then he broke into a huge smile. "I think I just had the most awesome experience of my life."
That was good too hear, because Justin had been missing all day. He left early this morning with his guitar and note cards while I was eating breakfast. When I asked him where he was going he said he was doing "business" what ever that meant.
I raised an eyebrow, "Is this the 'business' you were talking about earlier?"
Justin nodded. "You see, there's this girl I've been really feel' in lately. She wouldn't give me the time of day though."
I gasp, "You? Thee, Justin Kenmore?"
Justin lightly punched me in the arm, "I know right?"
"So what was the guitar and note cards for?"
"To woo her,"
"To woo her?" I asked, confused.
"Yea I came to her house around ten and serenaded her through her window from the lawn."
I stared at Justin in disbelief, then quickly applauded him for his amazing actions. I had always heard about guys serenading girls in movies or books, but never in real life. Who ever this girl was, I knew it was going to be extremely difficult for her to resist him for long.
"So who is this mystery girl?" I winked.
Justin smirked, " Just a girl I know,"
"Do I know her?"
"Is it Jessica?"
Before I could pry anymore into Justin's personal life he changed the subject. He grabbed his backpack and pulled out a green envelope that had my name on the cover.
"Jasmine told me to give this to you, I went to the café after I finished with my girl."
I snatched the note away from him and glared, "You better be keeping your eye on that mystery girl, instead of my sister."
Justin scooted away holding up his hands like he was under arrest, "Don't worry, I will."
My eyes did not wonder from his, "I'm serious, kiss my sister again and I'll give you another black eye," I joked.
Justin crossed his arms, glared at me and shook his head.
"What? Too soon?" I smirked.
He threw a pillow at me, "Just read your stupid letter!"
I averted my attention back to the emerald color envelope in front of me. Maybe this was my parents finally telling me to come back home. That they finally missed their only son. That they were wrong for what they said to me.
Even though I loved Justin too death, living at his house was just not for me. I got tired of his drunk brother always harassing me and calling me names. Which has never changed since I met the dude. I had one little mistake at their house in the 4th grade and he never seems to let it go.
I also grew tired of having to cover for Justin every time one of his flings called or stopped by the house. I had only been there for two days, but I will say I never realized how many girls you could date in just 48 hours.
Justin went out with exactly six girls sense I left my house. He had a breakfast date with a girl named Tony, at 9 am, that he brutally woke me up for, with his loud rap music playing in the bathroom. Next was Veronica at 12pm for lunch they went to this new Mexican restaurant. Let's not forget Symone at 9pm they went to this hot new club on main street. The list goes on and on from there. If I heard one more, babe, honey, darling or baby girl, I was going to scream.
I ripped open my letter with hopeful thoughts, but they were quickly destroyed in a matter of seconds. The letter read, "Dear Alex, your father and I love you dearly and only want the best for you. I did not enjoy the way you talked to me and dashed out the house Saturday. If you continue to live outside of this house and not respect our wishes, you can come pick up your things tomorrow at 12.
Love You, Mom"
My eyes grew large as tears started to form in the corners. Justin watched me from across the room in concern.
"What did they say?"
I stared at him then back at the letter. I quickly brushed the tears away from my orbs with my left arm.
"Th-they're kicking me out if I don't quit the band."
Justin clenched his fist in vengeance, "Don't worry Alex, you don't need them, if they don't want to support you. You can stay here as long as you want, my friend!"
He turned and smiled at me, but all I could do was frown. I got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen grabbing my keys from a drawer. I walked out the house and climbed into my car. I needed to go somewhere to clear me head. I was tired of my parents, tired of Justin, I only had one person who could help me now.
I had no idea what I just experienced, but I knew I didn't want it to happen again. I wished Jazmine wasn't right. That I could come to some man's random studio and become famous over night. No, I had to meet a pervert who flashed me with his back side. I covered my eyes and screamed to the top of my lungs. My scream was so high if we were in a cartoon all the windows would have burst.
"I'm really sorry, I wasn't expecting company today. I wish you would have called before, you came," Daniel, pleaded with me.
I was now sitting on couch in the corner of his room with my hands not leaving the front on my face. His room was pretty plain compared to his studio. The walls were an ivory color and he had chestnut wooden floors. The head board of his bed was also wooden covered with gold trim on the sides. His bed had ruby covers and white pillows. His dresser was also red and so was the couch, I was sitting on.
"Would you just put on some clothes!" I screamed.
Daniel was way more dressed then our first encounter, but he still hadn't put on a shirt.
"Oh come on, I know you've seen your fare share of male bodies by now," he joked throwing a white shirt over his torso.
Not uncovering my face, which was as red as a clown's nose, "Actually I have not!"
He raised his eyebrow, "Oh? So we have a virgie on our hands."
"I came here to talk about music!" I grabbed my purse and was about to leave when he grabbed my arm.
"I'm sorry, you're my first client, please stay." He smiled at me.
I stared into his dark brown orbs, I would have to say he was pretty attractive.
"Fine, but if you try anything else your dead."
Ten minutes later, we were down in the recording studio. Where we should have been in the first place. I stepped in to recording booth and placed the headphones on my ears. The booth had wooden walls and burgundy carpet.
"Let's see what you got." he called from outside the booth.
I felt butterflies in my stomach, I was extremely nervous. If I messed this up, I could miss a chance of a lifetime. But If I sang his eardrums off, this good be a new beginning for me and my band. I could finally become the rock star I always dreamed of being. There would be no more having to wonder where and when my big break was going to come from. It was here, and I wouldn't let it go for the world.
I took a sip of the water that was sitting in the booth, took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
""I remember when I first saw you on the corner
The first time you looked into my eyes
You told me they reminded you of a flowing stream
That's when I knew you were the guy of my dreams
I dreamt of you on cloudless nights
I saw your face glowing in the moonlight
I wished for you upon a star
In hopes you'll come from near or far.
You're the one,
My shining star
The one that gives me hope
I'll always have you in my heart
We'll never be apart
My song's for you,
My words are true,
I hope you can hear my heart"
I opened my eyes and Daniel was sticking to thumbs up at me.
"That was great," he smiled and I smiled back at him.
I thought this was going to be the start of a beautiful friendship.
