To Lose a Night
By Geoff Gonzalez
"To lose a night," the wise ones say,
"Is quite a terrible price to pay,
To spend each day of our lives in fear,
And at night, shed but a single tear."
We weep for things we did not see,
We weep for things that could never be,
We weep for things that were not right,
And in doing so, we lose a night.
A night better spent riding waves of glory,
As we grow older, blissfully hoary,
Not spent brooding over meaningless pain,
For in every life, there must be some rain.
And so I urge you, dear sir or ma'am,
To take a look at the bigger plan:
To be the light of Christ for all to see,
And that you in God, forever be.
