"The Middle Ground"

Siblings standing side by side,
Changed without the other's knowing.
One Different on the outside,
One hides her changes inside.

One hides her Shadow behind the Sun,
The other is a Star disguised as the Night.
Years pass, people change;
Can things ever be the same?

I ponder this as I wait
For the day we meet again.

Could the years have possibly
Done us wrong?
Burnt our bonds
Till they were gone?

Could it be, when we meet
the second time around
Would the pieces be too sharp
To pick them up from whence they lay?

I ponder this as I wait
For the day we meet again.

I should hope that the day
Which I see you again
We can look towards the Sky
Be friends once again.

My dear, we've separated too long
For things to return to how they once were.
But one day, perhaps we can meet
In the Middle ground, between you and me.

Pondering this, now I wait
For the day we'll laugh together again.
