help, i have done it again

i have been here many times before

hurt myself again today

and the worst part is there's no one else to blame

Elandra lies down in her bed, tenderly. A blank nothing-tune is running through her head, fitting perfectly to the raw stinging and tiredness coming from her legs and arms. Her limbs are positioned carefully to avoid any and all contact with her blankets, letting the slightly too cool air brush over her sore, aching skin. Silently, tears start to run down Elandra's face as she begins to almost-regret the inevitable decision she had made just hours before.

be my friend

hold me, wrap me up

unfold me, i am small

i'm needy

warm me up

and breathe me

In her dreams, Elandra rests, mind and body safe behind a wall of rusted armour. She floats, unusually comfortable in her body.

ouch, i have lost myself again

lost myself and i am nowhere to be found

yeah, i think that i might break

i've lost myself and i feel unsafe

The next day, Elandra moves through her classes in a haze. Tired and sore, the old jacket she is wearing over a simple tank top rubs against her painfully, and her jeans make her skin feel as if it's on fire. Her mind blank, Elandra is unaware of her surroundings, the fog usually residing in her mind having been pushed out through the cuts in her skin to follow her and obscure her world.

Tiago watches Elandra, worried. He can plainly see her pain and distraction, and knows something is wrong.

be my friend

hold me, wrap me up

unfold me, i am small

i'm needy

warm me up

and breathe me

After school, Elandra walks blindly into Tiago. Catching her, he jolts her awake.

"S- Sorry," Elandra mumbles, not seeing who caught her.

Tiago says simply, "Come." He puts an arm around Elandra, leading her gently to his car.

be my friend

hold me, wrap me up

unfold me, i am small

i'm needy

warm me up

and breathe me

Inside Tiago's house, he leads her to his room, sitting Elandra on his bed. Quietly, Elandra waits for Tiago to do something. She mindlessly lets him carefully take off the jacket. Tiago gently pushes Elandra down so she is lying on his bed, and Tiago holds her, mindful of the broken skin shielding her from the world. Slowly, she falls asleep in his arms, feeling safe.
