Daddy hugged Mama, kissing her in a way that made us children turn our heads. He then stepped forward and hugged my sister tightly, murmuring in her ear and kissing her. She sobbed and clung to him for a time, before he finally pulled away. Dimitri stared at Daddy for a time, then threw his arms around him. Daddy hugged him as if he was still a little boy and kissed him as well. When he finally got to me, I clung to him desperately.
"You can't leave," I said.
"I must," he replied. "It is time for you to take my place."
"But you still need to teach me more," I said. "I don't know all I need to know."
"You know all I can teach you," he said. He kissed me and pulled away from me, walking to the table he had placed his life glass on. He lifted it carefully and turned to face us.
"As of this moment, you no longer have a name," Daddy said. "I take your name with me, leaving you with the title of Lady Death. Goodbye my children, Astoria, I love you all."
The glass fell from his hand and smashed on the floor below. The red sand sprang up, engulfing his body then dissipating like smoke, leaving behind no trace of him or the Life glass. No speck of cloth, strand of jet colored hair or shard of glass remained. Mama wrapped her arms around herself, whimpering. I moved towards her, wrapping my arms around her. She pressed her face into my neck, sobbing.

DHMB:Yes, I wrote a sequel. I can't believe I did it but, I did. If you go into my profile and the sequel is called 'Death's Bride'. I can't believe I did it and I have no idea where it's going to go but I didn't with this story either so...yeah. Ugh. I wander if I should hate myself for this.
