This Little Ice Rink:
The first time you tried it
The rink seemed so big and cold
The skates seemed to clunky
And the ice a bit too old.
The second time you made an attempt
You fell so many times
You were prepared to give up.
But something about that place
Made you ask if you could go back
Just one more time
And I'm sure glad you did.
The joy in your eyes and the
Warmth in your heart may never have
Been there if it wasn't for this sport.
I guess I'll be forever indebted to this little place
Where you first learned to skate.
It brought you a little piece of something
Just big enough to begin to teach you
How to dream.
