Ritalin -
Helpful Medication or Mental Genocide?

Every day, millions upon millions of children exhibit disinterest toward school, trouble understanding or motivating themselves towards classes, daydream, doodle or fidget, and even display genuine dislike for authority figures and standardized education. These traits, which should be deemed free speech, individuality, independence, free thought and the right to an opinion, and be greeted with nurturing and adaptation on the part of parents and the public education system, are instead labelled as a disorder known as ADHD and then treated with the stimulant narcotic Methylphenidate, or Ritalin, which, surprisingly, has more in common with methamphetamine and cocaine than any other beneficial drugs, sharing the mental side effects and even the addiction levels of such.

In 1997, 2.5 million children were on Ritalin, and with doctors, who themselves are barely told of the adverse effects and barely go out of their way to study them, prescribing this drug to even the slightest of ADHD symptoms, real or imagined, that number has been growing ever since. Ritalin is also proven to be no more beneficial to the treatment of ADHD than non-narcotic treatments such as therapy or counselling, in fact, it's adverse effects completely outweigh the inconvenience and long-term effects of the 'disorder' it is designed to treat. It may even cause an increase in ADHD symptoms, leading to increased dosage where none is needed at all.

Also surprising is the medical claim that children with ADHD have reduced brain function and size compared to normal children, though, all the ADHD children tested had previously been given Ritalin or one of it's amphetamine brethren, so the supposed differences in an ADHD child's brain may in fact be caused by the narcotics and not by the apparent disorder. The common trait of ADHD is hyperactivity, right? Well, did you know that other candidates for this mind numbing medication are daydreamers and those with 'Oppositional Defiant Disorder'? Is this drug really helping our kids to focus? Or is it destroying the personality that would allow them to grow up to be voices of protest against corruption and injustice in our modern world? Or stunting great creative minds that could one day paint masterpieces or write epics?

Don't take my word for it. Use your eyes, use your minds. The facts are out there. On web-sites devoted to the truth about this drug, in a few books, and in almost every child that has been wrongfully placed on this drug. This is not garnishing support for a class action suit. This is a cry for reform. The people responsible deserve not to have their wallets lightened but to be tried and punished for crimes against humanity. The freedom, happiness and choices of children everywhere are being stripped by this narcotic, and it has to stop. Call me a radical, but I believe that this is another Holocaust. But the camps have been replaced with our own brains and the Nazi's our leaders and doctors.

That is a ridiculous amount of adverse effects which can have a chatastrophic effect on a childs social life, natural development, and overall well being. All because they are difficult to manage by parents or teachers. I was on Ritalin for at least five years as a child with no proper testing to indicate I even needed it. I display a vast amount of the aforementioned symptoms, and have experienced feelings of self-loathing and social withdrawal for years, believing myself to be less or flawed compared to those around me. Until I began to research the drug which cast such a shadow on my childhood. I have missed out on relationships, lost friendships, been ridiculed, am almost perpetually depressed, have gaps in my memory, and can barely even summon good memories that I know occured. I am not the only one. Our lives have been disrupted. Our choices have been derailed. But we don't have to be silent. I do not demand a lawsuit. I demand change. I suggest the complete and total abolishment of Ritalin and other drugs that supposedly moderate ADHD, and I would hope you would share my vision. I want my mind back, and I want every child who has been subjected to this cerebral genocide, this Holocaust of individuality, to have their minds back as well.

If you care enough, take the time to read Talking Back To Ritalin by Dr. Peter Breggin. It is one of the only books that takes time to analyze all the documented side effects and negative aspects of Ritalin, whereas other books thoughtlessly and cluelessly support it's use. There may be more now, as it was written in 1998, but it has opened my eyes and given me answers and purpose, and I hope it will do the same for you. This is the direction that protest needs. The first step to freeing us from the control of a murdering, corrupt government is the freedom of our minds. When good says nothing, evils won. So let's raise our voices and say, "Fuck Ritalin." The aforewritten is a song to those 8.5 million plus kids on this narcotic. It's the least I can do, since everyone else is so damn determined to look the other way.
