The Founding Fathers' principle that matters most to me is equality for all persons. Thomas Jefferson, in the Declaration of Independence, complained to King George about the British government's unfair treatment of the common colonists. Although it took almost a century for changes to the Constitution to be made, women and African-Americans have more rights than they used to. It is now illegal not to hire someone because of skin color, gender, religion, etc. All people in America are allowed a fair trial in court.
