Ode to the simple flame

Seated in a crown of

Atop a throne of wax lying

As a star,

Burning brightly in a pool of

Shimmering liquid,

A simple flame

Your light

Chases away the darkness

That threatens

In the still of the night

Oh little flame,

Sentinel, protector,

How I love to gaze upon your light

A golden raindrop

Captured for a moment upon a

Glowing pedestal

Wondrous shooting star

Upon an ebony leash

Beautiful treasure

Beyond all compare

A living gem,

Dancing upon a slender wick,

Will you not dance for me?

Dance for me, my little flame.
