Hey! Guess what! No A/N! This is just me rambling. Like always. Well here ya go guys. Ch.10 :P
Chapter 10: When will he learn?
When Maria and Xander made it back to the dinning hall everyone was gone. She looked questioningly at Xander.
"The ball must have started without us. Let's hurry. We don't want to miss it." Xander smiled at her, but she did not smile back. He sighed, knowing she was still angry with him. "Maria will you forgive me?"
"Why not?! I don't even love her! You are the one for me Maria!" He shouted, exaspereted. Her hand slapped him hard across the face.
"Don't you dare say anything like that to me ever again! You had a responsibility which you threw away for a girl you had just met. Let me break it to you Romeo, I don't trust you. You have lied, you tell me things and expect me to believe you without proof, and then you insulted me. No more Xander. I don't care if you think I'm your souls "other half"," she rolled her eyes at that. "That might work on other girls but it will not work on me! Tell me how to get to the ball. I do not wish to arrive with you."
His face was neutral and he told her its right down the hall the huge door to the left. He watched as she walked away, her heels clicking on the floor, the sound parallel to his breaking heart. He'd lost her before he had even had her.

The Oak king grinned at them. "Come this way. We have prepared the perfect outifts for the ball. You must come!"
"Y-You got us clothing?! Does that mean I get to go to an actual ball?!" Jade was giddy again. Not only could she see her best friend, but she also got to go to a ball. If dreams came true any further she might have that family she's dreamed about for so long. Nate smiled at her and picked her up bridal style.
"So where's the changing room? The Princess needs her gown."
She was laughing and squirming. They both missed these kinds of moments. He bent down and kissed her softly.
"We have them set up in the cottage. Maria I do hope you like the color red." The Oak King seemed just as happy as they were. His daughter had finally returned.
"Its red?" She asked, curious.
"Its actually a dress that's darkening colors as it lengthens. It starts off orange then goes to pink then a purplish-red. At the very bottom its the darkest shade of red there could be."
"So its like the sunset." She was smiling softly.
"Exactly like the sunset."
*~_+^ Maria ^+_~*
Hurrying down the hall she tried to get as far away from him as possible. When she opened the door to the ball room, Robin Goodfellow was there.
"I'm your escort for the night, dear Maria." He bowed low and took her gloved hand, kissing it softly.
"Its an honor Puck." She smiled at him and took his offered arm. They walked into the room of dancing Fey. He puts his hand on her waist and she does the same.
"Let's waltz!" And they were off, dancing merrily and cracking jokes to each other. Puck was an easy person to befriend. He put dye in the punch to make peoples' mouths and lips bright red. Maria would laugh at his silly pranks and he would wink at her.
When Xander cam in, Kiara was the one to escort him. Neither of them seemed happy with this occurance though. Kiara was watching Samson, Samson was watching a random beautiful Fey woman, who was staring at him right back, and Xander was watching Maria have fun with another man. One of Xander's close friends even. He tried to concentrate on the woman he currently held in his arms but neither could hold interest in the other.
"Kiara why don't you just go talk to him. He's a better fit king than me." He looked down at her and she glared at him.
"Mind your own business. Why don't you go dance with that Maria you love so much?!"
He felt those words like a knives. "She doesn't want me."
"Seems about right. You lie and humiliate people. She needs to be gone. I don't like her. She ugly and doesn't belong in my court." When she said this, Xander growled at her. He pushed her away and stormed off towards Samson.
This time when the doors opened, it caused Maria's heart to grow warm.
"Jade! Nate!" She shouted loudly, making everyone turn towards her. She ran towards them, ditching her heels, and hugged them both tightly, tears streaming down her face. "I missed you guys so much! Do you even realize how worried I was! Knowing you two God knows how much trouble you've gotten into!" She glared at them, reprimanding them. There was a laugh from behind them. Mashie stood with a beautiful blonde woman on his arm. She smiled warmly at Maria.
"Trust me, they were more trouble than they were worth!" She laughed again, the sound like the a bambling brook. So smooth and calm. Maria held out a hand. The woman took it and shook it softly. "Its nice to meet you Maria. My name is Shardes. I've heard so much about you."
Maria felt her heart jump into her throat. Not another lover of Xander's...
