Have you ever felt you're not unique

a human smudge, a blurred streak

indistinguishable from the rest

failing the originality test?

A snake of sourness uncoils

bonds of friendship start to spoil

who I am is what they see

and some other girl has the role of me.

"I saw you in Mrs. Murphy's class."

By that room I never pass!

"Math on Wednesday I loved your hair."

On Wednesday I wasn't even there!

"I'm jealous of your new black shoes."

I have new shoes? Well this is news!

Similar things I've heard all day

I hold my tongue but yearn to say,

"How can you mistake her for me?

Do I lack individuality?

And how can you mistake me for her?

We aren't the same and never were."
