To love a stranger

Will you recognize me

The next time that we meet?

If you should know who I am

I shall know me you have not wholly loved

Because you were not surprised

To be addressed by the stranger I became.

But I still smile in your face

Because I, too, know you

And the ignorance is mutual

So I will cry at your funeral

For all those who love you

Who casually walk away after a glance.

Now, please destroy me before

I increase my indelible impact

And with my ultimate passing

Make life unbearable

For all those who don't accept that I'm gone

And who continue living despite the changes.
