The lizard is so close to me,

she climbs the silken sheets

towards the silver rack

you catch her, again.

Place her on the floor, good girl.

Tell her to stay.

She is determined!

Her steps planned out,

Each time she is torn away.

You deny her the floating fabric and chance

to sit above your head,

as not even angels can.

Once more her limbs fly forwards.

place her on the mat once again yet stay a while.

She darts just as you thought.

This time

you catch her, of sorts.

She is all legs and scales and tails.

She will climb someday,

when your back is turned.

And sit among the clouds

Claws wrapped in elegance

known only as your presence.

We are the same, her and I.
