A long awaited present, that was him.
No bigger than a new born, no heavier than a doll.
Snow was jealous and clouds looked away ashamed.
He chases the wind and wins,
He fights the leaves and comes out victorious,
He struts through the streets his tail to the skies.
He lounges around his palace all day,
Except when he is defending his kingdom
From the trespassing felines.
The tip tapping against wood announces his entrance;
He becomes a cushion on my feet and falls asleep.
I smile and rub his ears, my pet, my friend.
