The hallways were filled with blood and guts, while dark surrounded us. I could tell that Dave was scared, because whenever the thought of blood and guts came up, his lower lip quivered and he spoke about how hot he thought Kate Upton was.
"And have you even seen her Sport Illustrated swimsuit edition pictures? God, man."
"Dave, Shut the fuck up!" Matthew and I said simultaneously. In response, Dave sighed in annoyance.
"Where would Jeremiah want the barricades?" I asked Matthew.
"Here – down there – and at the main entrance." He responded.
"Ok." I said as I lifted up wooden planks that I had found earlier on the way down to the 1st floor.
"Did you bring the hammer?" I asked Dave as I set up a wooden plank in front of one of the doors.
"Uh – shit, no." He said as he looked down at his hand.
"You fuckin' idiot. Go get it on the 3rd floor." Matthew said as he pushed him in annoyance.
"Ok, ok." Dave said as he flipped Matthew the finger.
"I can tell that you guys aren't as close as you used to be." I said to Matthew as he rummaged through his bag.
"Damn right. I feel like Dave's been losing himself, one day at a time." He said.
"I understand. I'm starting to question my own sanity. This plague – epidemic- whatever the hell it is, has been hitting everyone hard." I explained to him.
"You know, there's rumor of a safe haven in Canada. Apparently, it's too freakin cold for the dead to survive." Matthew explained.
"Yeah, but it's just a rumor. After what I've seen, it's almost impossible to kill those things without a weapon of some sorts. So I doubt nature with do any better than we can." I said to Matthew before something terrible happened.
"AAAAGGGGHHHH!" Matthew and I heard Dave scream throughout the hallways of the terminal.
"Dave!" Matthew and I say simultaneously. I immediately start running toward the sound of the scream. Within a few minutes, we reached the sound of Dave's shriek. The sight was horrifying as I stumbled upon the scene of Dave's arm being gnawed on viciously.
"Son of a Bitch!" I said as I pulled out the pistol, that Jeremiah gave me earlier, and shot the creature in the head.
"Don't worry buddy, you're gonna make it outta this alive." Matthew said as he slid to Dave's side.
"We're gonna have to cut it off." I said in panic.
"Wait, what do you mean?" Dave asked in horror. In response, I took a knife out of my bag and approached him. "No don't!" He yelled. Matthew then put his knees onto Dave's shoulders and nodded at me.
"I'm sorry Dave. Please forgive me." I said as I plunged my knife into his elbow and started digging in.
"AAAAGGGGHHHH! STOP!" He yelled as I dug deeper and deeper until I reached the bone. That's when I jerked the knife downwards and upwards until his arm was fully off. Then he stopped talking.
"Dave?" I yelled.
"Don't worry, he's in shock. He'll wake up soon. But for now, we have to stop the blood flow to his arm. Gimme your sweater." Matthew said. I gave my sweater to him and he tied a knot around the amputated area. "He should be good for now." Just then, I received a transmission from Jeremiah on the walkie – talkie.
"Luke, forget everything I told you, and get yer ass back up here on the 4th floor! We need you man. The infected are everywhere!" He yelled.
"I'm on my way." I responded.
"What happened?" Matthew asked.
"Things just went from bad to worse."
