Lines are stanza breaks

Not Today

Day leads into night

Every hour the sickness is kept at bay

Medicine is poured down the throats of the ill

Friends stand by, pacing

Hoping, praying

Within a life there is a star

A beautiful fiery glow

Its burns bright and powerful

But all reigns come to an end

Is today the day?

Or is not to be

The sickness leaves as fast and as silently as it came

And hopes come to fruition

Not today

We can rest at ease
