Then and Now
My love and I walked hand in hand,
We ventured into unknown land
And lost our way-marks in the sand.
I led him on to desert plains,
He took me to a poisoned slough,
Then headed off for soot-filled lanes,
And I surely would not be alive by now –
Had I not been found by Day,
Picked up, washed and winged away.
The Dove and I walk heart in Flame,
He called me by my truest name,
And I will never be the same.
I do not take Him anywhere,
I yearn to learn to know His ways;
He leads me up a rosebud stair
To all I've longed for through all of my days.
The Dove and I walk Flame in heart,
And I'm so glad He made me part!
