Here's the newest chapter. In case you didn't know, Latifah and I shall not be updating as much on this story, because we also started another one. :)

Don't forget to comment, and a special thanks to everyone that read!

"She still isn't talking to me." I told my brother Aiden. Aiden was nineteen years old, and he was a good brother. He and I were very close, which is why I felt comfortable talking to him about Emma.

She'd changed a lot on the outside, but I could tell she was still my best friend on the inside. I just didn't understand why she acted so cold towards me. She was beautiful now, and I always knew she would be.

My heart almost stopped when I saw her again. I thought that things would be easy and we'd just start where we left off, but now I knew it couldn't be. I needed to find out why she hated me.

He smirked "I wonder why..." he said sarcastically. Aiden had many girlfriends, so I thought he knew how they worked. Either he didn't or he just plain refused to let me in on why Emma hated me.

I sighed, "I have no idea what I did wrong."

Aiden shifted uncomfortably in his seat. I wasn't like this a lot, and he didn't know how to handle it. "That reminds me, her aunt called half an hour ago inviting us to dinner tomorrow." He told me. Changing the subject was a way to keep my mind off of Emma for a little while, but I knew that sooner or later, something or someone would remind me of her and my mind would shift and I would be thinking of her. "Sucks for you," he winked.

I ran a hand through my messy hair. "Oh shit that's going to be awkward. Are you coming?" I asked him.

"No." He replied simply.

"What. Why?" I asked, surprised. He had only seen Emma a couple times. I thought he'd jump at the opportunity to see her again because he was, without doubt, wondering why I was making such a fuss.

"I have a date tonight." He smirked. I rolled my eyes. Of course he had a date. He always had a date.

"With Jessica again?" I asked, remembering his date last night with Jessica. I did a mental cringe. That had gone horribly. She kept touching Aiden, and it was kind of getting annoying. She flirted endlessly, and her voice reminded me of nails on a chalkboard.

It reminded me of Amanda's. I had never really liked that girl...

"No, with Ashley." He replied.

"What happened with Jessica?" I asked. He just went out with her last night.

"She was too...clingy. It was so annoying." He'd gotten that right.

"One day, you're going to regret all of those girlfriends you have," I told him sincerely.

"Well, when that day comes Jakey, I'll let you rub it in my face all you want."

Suddenly, my phone vibrated.

r u busy 2nite? maybe we can hang out-A

I groaned, running a hand through my hair. Aiden looked at me with understanding. "Is it some annoying girl?"

"Amanda," I muttered.

"I understand girl falling for my looks, but I have no idea why they even like you, Jake." He joked. I glared at him.

sry. my bro's here right now. maybe l8r. : / -jake

I still didn't know how she got my number. Maybe Joey gave it to her. If he did, I would kill him-best friend or not.

Emma avoided me the next day at school.

Whenever I tried to talk to Abigail about the matter, she glared at me and said, "You bastard. As if you don't remember." I was confused and it was really frustrating me.

Maybe she was mad that I hadn't kept contact with her. But it was pretty hard since she'd up and moved like that and had told me nothing. I'd tried emailing, but she just ignored them or she didn't get them at all. I didn't even know her new address or phone number.

I know Emma hadn't had one of the best childhoods. Abigail, Zach and I were the only friends she had. She was nerdy-looking then, and clumsy, with a popular guy best friend and brother which made it hard for her in school.

I always knew she was pretty. She had large blue eyes, and a delicate face. I knew she would only take a few years to grow into her looks.

She'd always worn baggy clothes, had dark circles under her eyes and was always falling asleep in class. She had a reason for wearing baggy clothes. She didn't get much sleep because Chloe was really sick then. She was worried about her. Without getting sleep at night, she fell asleep in class. I started catching her up on what she missed and she was grateful for it.

Then Amanda took a liking to me. She'd tried getting to me by using Emma, but Emma was too smart for that.

So instead of starting a friendship with my best friend, she bullied her. Emma was an easy target though. Zach hadn't even known about it. Emma was good at hiding it.

Amanda was stupid. She thought I was blind. She thought I didn't see what she was doing to my best friend. She also thought, once I started noticing, that I would start to like her and ask her out.

She could not be any more wrong.

She thought I'd choose her over my best friend. She thought she meant more to me than Emma ever would. So she publically humiliated Emma. I pushed her into the janitor's closet and gave her a piece of my mind, but she was so stupid to think that I was turned on by the act and I was playing hard to get, that she plastered her lips on mine.

It was sloppy and disgusting. She seemed to like it. She didn't see that I didn't. I tried to push her away, but she dug her claws into my arm and pasted herself on me.

And that was the moment that her friend Bella had opened the door and taken a picture.

It was around the school in minutes. Emma seemed hurt by my act. I tried to tell her the truth, but she managed to avoid me for a week and then she was gone. I had to find out from my mom two weeks later that her mom was in a coma, and they'd moved to California to get treatment.

Amanda still liked me after three years, and I'd told her more than once that I wasn't interested, but she wouldn't take no for an answer.

A few months after Emma moved, Joey came to the school. He and I hit it off immediately, and he was now my best friend.

But Emma would always be my bestest best friend.

I just wish someone would tell me what went wrong so I could try to fix it. I hated that Emma loathed me.

And then that was when I realized that I was in love with my best friend.

That realization knocked the shit out of me. I stood next to my locker, gaping. Joey made his way towards me, and hit me on the back. "Is everything alright, mate?"

I nodded, giving him a weak smile. "It's nothing."

"So, who is this 'nothing'? Is it a girl?" He wiggled his eyebrows at me playfully.

I shrugged, "My old friend Emma." I was never able to keep a secret from him and he was never able to keep one from me.

He raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Emma Carter, the new girl?"

"No," I shook my head. "Not new. She came here a long time ago. Do you know her?"

"Sure," he said. "I'm friends with her and her brother Zach."

I smiled then, and idea working its way into my mind. They were friends, which most likely meant she didn't know he was my best friend. Maybe I could use this as an advantage. "Can you do me a favor, Joe?"

Serena: SO, what does Jake want Joey to do?
