The Storm

Wind whips at the branches of nearby trees.
Dead leaves are scattered down the lonely road.
A salty spray is carried on the breeze.
Chipmunks scurry for their nearby abode.

The rain comes suddenly, pounding the ground.
The gray skies let loose, showing their fury.
Nearby, an old squirrel, sadly, is drowned.
As the rain falls harder, all is blurry.

The thunderstorm arrives with a great boom.
Bright forks of lightning shine at the windows.
Little children cower, scared, in their room.
A gust of wind rips the head off a rose.

She gazes outside from the windowpane,
Up at the beautiful, majestic rain.
