Prologue
I could never remember when I started thinking up such crazy things, but to me, my life had always seemed a little too good to be true. It was almost like I was living in a fairy tale. I had a mom, a dad, twin sisters who looked up to me, and of course my dog, Fido who was always there when I needed him the most. But the term fairy tale is a bit too, well, strange for my life. Usually when the words "fairy tale" are mentioned, people think of castles, dragons, and Prince Charming who always gets the princess and they lived happily ever after. My family didn't live in a castle of any sorts, per say. We lived in the suburbs on Fallout Lane; a place where everyone is the same, but I personally never complained. After all, Fallout Lane sounded like the best music group of all time (at least in my opinion): Fall Out Boy. The lawns were always mowed every Tuesday and the very attractive paper boy was never late on his rounds as he pedaled by on his bike Friday morning. To me, this place seemed kind of boring, but then again, I was the oddball in the family.
My name is Willow Terridale, probably one of the more odd names in the world. With a first name that's a tree and a last name that sounds like a breed of dog, I'm pretty much the center of everyone's jokes. It's the only odd name in the family, too; even my sisters think so and I'm way different from them. While they want to be models, I dream of becoming a rock star...or the manager of the bakery. I still haven't quite decided yet on what I want to do with my life which is somewhat normal for a girl of sixteen like me.
Yep, things were pretty perfect in this small little family. That is...until that one day, and then my entire life was flipped upside down. And it was all because of that book...
