Almost everything was in such a mess, as if a bomb had hit the apartment, and it seemed like Neil was so busy sleeping on the floor instead of waking up bright and early once in his life.
"Hey...wake up..." I whispered to his ear and nudged him.
"Huh? Let me sleep five more minutess..." he moaned and continued sleeping. Not the answer that I wanted to hear...
"Come on now, we've got lots of things to do..." I said and nudged him again, but he wouldn't wake up. What to tell him now..?
I pretending falling down on the floor and hurting myself. "Help me, it hurts!" I said and let out a scream, hoping he'd wake up.
On hearing me screaming, he woke up at once and ran to me, being panicked. "What happened to you? Are you alright?" he asked, his voice full of worry and carried me bridal style to the couch that was the only piece of furniture unpacked. Every thing else was packed in boxes that we didn't unpack yet.
I stuck out my tongue at him. "It was a lie!"
He sat down next to me. "Why?"
"Because you wouldn't wake up...and..." I trailed off and looked around our empty apartment, "and...as I said before, we've got lots of things to do." I finished and sighed. Cleaning and tidying up is something I never do. How are we supposed to unpack all those pieces of furniture, clean and tidy up our apartment?
He started laughing so much that he fell off the dark red couch and down on the floor on his back. I joined in after a second and started laughing hysterically, and more than him. Nobody could calm me down or make me stop laughing at that moment, it was just impossible. He stopped laughing and looked at me only to start giggling like a five year old boy, he looked so cute that I couldn't prevent myself from kissing him. He was still laughing, so I started tickling him so hard that he couldn't breathe.
"Let...me...go..." he said and tried to catch his breath up, but he couldn't.
"What are you going to give me?" I asked and giggled.
"A big hug?"
I pretended thinking while tickling him harder than before. "Um...no, that's not enough..."
He smiled in a wonderful smile. "A massive hug and a kiss?"
I nodded, smiled, helped him stand up and threw his gray T-shirt at his face. He started laughing again but this time he didn't fell off the couch laughing as he did before. "Thank you, but I don't need it. It's so hot in here..."
I looked at him, then at me at the mirror that was the only thing unpacked except for the couch. I was dressed in a pair of shorts, a plaid white tank top and my blue flip flops, but still, the weather was so hot that we couldn't stand it. We shouldn't move out in the middle of the summer...I thought and sighed.
"You're right..." I told him, refusing to stop looking at him. What? It's not my fault that he looks so hot!
He shrugged and sat down on the couch. "Hey, don't fall asleep again." I said to him.
He looked up at me. "What!" he exclaimed. "It's not my fault that I am exhausted!"
I laughed. "So am I...I want so bad to sleep..." I said, sat down next to me and rested my head on his shoulder.
He put his arm around me and kissed me. "Why don't you take a nap?"
I looked up at him. "No, we are busy. I mean, look! We have to unpack, and clean up, and..."
He cut me off. "I can do this."
"But I want to help, you won't do this alone!" I protested.
"But you're tired. You need to sleep." he said.
"But I must help you."
"But you must sleep."
"But we have lots of things to do."
"But you are tired."
"But I love you." I told him and kissed him.
He kissed me back. "I love you more..."
"No, you don't."
"Yes, I do." he protested and kissed me again, his embrace during the kiss was stronger than before.
I kissed him back. "No, you don't..."
"I am not used to interrupting such moments...but I had to do this..." said Josh and walked in, not bothering to close the door behind him.
"Hey, didn't you see the door?" Neil asked and stood up in order to close the door.
"Well, I did, but it was half open when I walked in, so I didn't bother to close it." Josh told him and sat down next to me. "What's up?"
I shrugged. "One in the same...want to help us?" I looked around and sighed. "I mean, there's so many to do, and I wonder whether we're gonna finish unpacking or not..."
He nodded. "I understand, you're right. Luckily I haven't moved out yet..." He looked around, then stared at Neil. "I wonder why you chose to move out."
"Because we want to live on our own." he told Josh and sat down next to me.
"Yeah, I understand that, but you can't even unpack the furniture and clean up this tiny apartment!"
"Hey!" I protested. "It's not tiny."
"Yeah, I'm sorry. It's not tiny, it's so small that there's not enough room to swing a cat." he joked.
I laughed. "Come on now, it's not this small! It's neither big nor small, it's...it's fine and we like it."
"Yeah," Neil started, "but we have to tidy up so as it'll look better. And you," he pointed at Josh, "you're gonna help us since you're here." he told him and smiled in an amazing smile as always.
"Okay...Dad said he's going to come too, because he thinks you two are not able to live on your own and clean up this place." Josh told us and a minute later we heard the doorbell ringing. I stood up and walked to the door in order to open it. Mom gave me a big hug before she walked in. "How are you?" she asked us.
I sat down next to Neil. "Tired. We're exhausted."
Mom nodded and so did Josh. "It's obvious." she said. "I'm here to help cause I know that you two are not going to clean up this place." she joked.
I shook my head and smiled. "No, we're going to clean up." I said.
She stared at me. "Really? It's the first time in all your life that you have been willing to tidy up!"
I shrugged. "I know that."
Mom looked at Neil. "What's wrong with her?" she joked and pointed at me. "What did you give her?"
Neil looked at me. "What did I give you?" he joked.
I grinned. "A huge hug and a kiss." I said and kissed him.
He kissed me back. "Yeah, that's right." He looked at Mom. "I didn't give her anything except for that Mrs. Daniels, I don't know what's wrong with her." he joked. "Let me think..." he started and looked back at me, "everything's wrong with her." he joked.
I stuck out my tongue at him and he kissed me one more time. "I meant it," he joked, "but you're amazing."
Mom looked at Josh. "Should we leave or not?"
On hearing this, we stopped kissing. "No!" said Neil.
"Who's gonna help us?" I asked.
"That's why we're here." Neil's dad said as he walked in.
"I think that leaving doors open has become my favourite hobby." I said and giggled.
Josh nodded. "At last you figured it out," he joked.
I laughed and stood up. "Now are you gonna help me or not?"
After some minutes I looked at all of them. I smiled and thought to myself how lucky I am. I have never felt so happy in all my life. Mom looked at me and smiled in a big smile. I shrugged and looked away while she was helping Josh who was unpacking some pieces of furniture. I looked at Neil's dad who was helping as well while talking with his son about random stuff. I smiled again on thinking that they're in great terms since this incident that happened three years ago. Sometimes people need a wake-up call to realize how much they love their families, and when it happens then everything's better for them, they're all happier, I thought. I mean, look at him. When I first met him he was always in so bad a mood, and when I'd ask him what was the matter he wouldn't tell me what was bothering him. He was depressed but...I had fallen for him and I knew that he would never hurt me like other people hurt him in the past. Now I look at him and think of how happy he is.
And, of course, I always think of how much I love him.
Pleasee review, I would like to know what you think of the sequel! :D
