her heart was an empty galaxy,
a static universe, spawning new celestial bodies,
but stagnant.
he couldn't exist there, in her, with her,
a dimension apart, yet,
trapped inside each other in
a constant loop of combustion and
stars bursting in and out of existence,
decay.

she whispered in his ear, "don't let me
fade away," and he promised her the impossible.
and he let her go, her body beats down on him in
rays of hot white light, like sunshine but saltier,
he feels her tears.
(she never cried.)
