Chapter 2 P.O.V. Jayanna
"Jay, come get your lunch!" Mary my babysitter called. She had been helping my dad with our ranch since I was 2, when he realized he couldn't handle keeping a ranch, with fifty plus animals to feed daily, and a kid who is just learning to walk.
"Coming, Mary!" I replied back with a yell. Mary was 34; she had dirty blonde hair, hazel eyes, and always wore jeans and a blue T-shirt. To me was very pretty. I walked into the kitchen. Mary turned around and saw me.
"Jay! You're filthy, go wash your arms and face, and put on some new clothes." She said. I huffed and trudged up the stairs and into my room. I took off my shirt and jeans, and picked out a new set of clothes. I walked into my "private" bathroom. You see, my house is huge, and I do mean HUGE. Just because we live on a ranch doesn't mean we're poor! We're actually quite rich. (We even have stable hands! (Cute ones to!)) Anyway, off track, I washed my arms and face, when I dried off my face I looked into my mirror. I saw a 14-year-old girl with short black hair, (because long gets in the way when I'm doing chores.) sapphire blue eyes, tan skin from always working outside (but it's not too tan, just tan.) And even though most people consider me pretty, I don't. I consider myself, mildly attractive.
"Jay? What's taking so you so long?" Mary called up to me.
"Sorry, Mar, I was just…" I faltered, looking for an excuse, because I didn't wanna have the same talk we had last time, (that's another story, for another time.) "Just tiding up a bit…?"
"Okay…" She said suspiciously. I quickly got on some clothes and ran a brush through my hair. I ran down stairs almost tripping over Nashinal, our dog. (AN: Yes that's how I meant to spell Nashinal)
"Oh, Hey Nash! How are you? You wanna go fetch?" I asked and he perked up a bit, I grabbed the ball her had dropped at my feet and threw it.
"Roof!" He barked and ran after it. I laughed to myself and walked over to the kitchen table. I got up on a stool grabbed my lunch of a: "Toasted-Ham-Cheddar-Cheese-Mustard-Mayo-Lettuce and Tomato on Wheat Bread." Or a "T-H-C-C-M-M-L-T on WB" Which is my favorite sandwich. And of course I had some Nacho Cheese Doritos, and a coke to go with it.
"Do we have any oranges?" I asked and Mary set down plate of orange slices and smirked. I love oranges. (That's part of the reason why it's one of my three favorite colors.) I smiled at Mary and thanked her.
A little while later when Mary and I were done with lunch and were just talking (about boys of course, a girls gotta vent!) I heard the door open and close.
"I'm home!" Griffin called. I looked at Mary, smiled, and then jumped out of my seat and ran to him. When I saw him I shouted;
"DAD!" I ran and jumped into his arms. He had been gone for 2 weeks on a trip whit his friends, to go fishing. It's an annual thing they do every year.
"Het Jay! How have you been? He asked while setting me back on the ground.
"Great! I talked to David." I said to him.
"David, isn't he the one who feeds the pigs breakfast and dinner, and collects the chickens eggs? What's so special about him?" My dad said sarcastically. I playfully hit him in the shoulder and laughed.
"Oh yeah he's also the one you're crushing on!" He laughed. I nodded, he looked at me fondly; my dad and I were really close. He told me everything (except for the things about my mom.) And so do me, well maybe not everything…
"Well, do you think we should go out for dinner tonight?" he asked.
"Yeah! And can I ask David to come?"
"Yeah, I want to get to know this David character."
"Dad, you talk to him almost every day and we have had him here for about 3 years." I said. My dad leaned down to me.
"Secretly, I think he only stays to see you." I giggled.
"What's all the laughing for?" Mary asked, coming into the front hallway.
"Mary!" My dad said, hugging her "How have you been?"
"Has Jay done her chores?" Mary laughed and said,
"Yes, she's been doing a very good job too." My dad smiled.
"Well, should we go and get ready?" My dad asked. I looked at him confused.
"Dinner, of course. I mean it is 5:17." He said. Mary and I looked at the clock, then at each other.
"I guess we didn't know how much time we actually spent talking."
"Yeah, about 4 and a half hours worth of it." I confirmed.
"Well I guess we should go and get ready." Mary said, my dad and I shook our heads 'yes'. I hugged him one last time and walked upstairs to my room. I put some nicer jeans on and orange T-shirt. I put some of my favorite perfume on and then walked out of my room to go ask David if he wanted to come.
I walked out to the chicken coop, hoping David was there. He was. I walked up to the boy with the Sandy blonde hair and emerald green eyes. He was wearing his work jeans and a white T-shirt. He was just about to duck inside to the coop to collect eggs.
"Hey David." I said. He whipped his head around and shot straight up, hitting his head on the archway to the inside of the coop.
"Oh, David! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!" I said. He took off his gloves and made sure there was no blood then smiled and chuckled.
"Nah, its okay, I'm fine." He said. He looked at me and smiled. I got lost in his eyes for a moment and then remembered why I was here.
"Oh, sorry, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to come to dinner with Mary, my dad and I?" I asked him. He brightened up.
"Yeah sure, I would love to."
"Okay, well, we're gonna leave in about half an hour, so is that good for you?"
"Yeah, thanks, I'll be ready just let me the eggs and them I'll go and get into something different." He said.
"Okay." I said while smiling, "Just meet us out front where the car is usually parked." I said and he nodded.
After the fabulous dinner we had at Cattlemen's, we drove to Coldstone for dessert. David and I sat at a different table than Mary and my Dad when we were at dessert. We talked, laughed, and ate our ice cream, stuff along those lines. And then we had to go home. The car ride home was so fun, there was yelling, singing, (mostly mine, though, 'cause I have an awesome voice, if I say so myself.) And then it just had to be over. Well, all good things come to an end. When we got home we all said our goodnights and then went to our rooms. I walked into my room, over to my bed and fell on it.
Oh! I think I forgot to mention this one tiny thing earlier, but you really need to know this. I got up went over to my window opened it, and jumped out. I free-fell for about 4 seconds before I shot straight up into the sky. You're probably wondering, Who? What? When? Where? Why? How? Well, here's the answer: I can fly, I can do almost anything with my mind, (ex: I can read minds if I have enough energy, control them, I can also manipulate things with my mind, but I choose not to do theses thing because most of the time I would pass out.) and I can turn invisible.
I was high up in the sky when I saw some birds. I flew for a while then went back to my room. I changed into my pj's and went to sleep. And you would not believe how scary my dream was, to me at least.
