The Song Of The Sea

All was still
There was a silence proud
Then a call, not shrill
Was heard aloud

It was smooth and soft
It was raucous and bold
It was below and aloft
It was young and old

An incarnate joy
It was Heaven come down
It called for the boy
Who heard not a sound

The boy could not hear
He knew not what occurred
He was struck with fear
When they signed not a word

An angel's demand
Could not be denied
They obeyed the command
And the frightened boy cried

The boy was cast down
Thrown into the sea
And as he drowned
The song was no more
