Skin and Bones

Some people are like skeletons. They're strong, solid, and they support those around them. Sometimes they ache, if they are overused; but usually they stay constant. They are reliable up until a great force (or the right angle) breaks them to pieces. Then it takes them a long time to heal, and in the meantime everyone suffers. If they don't heal right, they are painful for the rest of their lives, unless they are re-broken and allowed to heal correctly.

Some people are like skin. They're elastic, ever-changing, and adaptive. They come in many shapes, sizes, colors and types. They are constantly renewing themselves. But they're also easily hurt; they can be bruised, cut, burned, rubbed raw. Yet they bounce back faster from their many injuries, and heal back to being good as new in a few days. But sometimes you can still see the scars.
