We unpack and first thing we do is head down to the Kemah Boardwalk. "So, what are we doing first?" I ask intertwining his long fingers with mine.
"Anything you want, arcade, food, stingrays, rides." He smiles nudging my cheek with his nose.
"Stingrays?" I ask and he nods. We walk towards a large building and walk in. He watches me as I look at the exotic fish. "You're staring."
"It's romantic." He chuckles and I laugh as he wraps his arms around me.
"Is not." I grin and he pulls me over to another beautiful tank. "They're so pretty."
"Not nearly as pretty as you." He murmurs kissing my cheek. I giggle as we walk towards an open stingray exhibit. "Want to feed them?"
"Can we?" I ask and he chuckles.
"Yeah, I'll be right back alright?"
"Yeah, I'll be here." I murmur looking at the sea creatures. A minute or two later he returns with two containers of fish.
"Hold the fish in-between your fingers like this and hold it over the tank." He says showing me and sure enough one pops up and eats the small fish that once rested in-between his knuckles.
"I thin I'm gonna die." I murmur taking a fish in-between my knuckles and hold it over the tank. One pops out and takes it from me. It opens two flaps at the front of it's face a I squirm. "That's digesting."
He chuckles, "Why don't you go wash your hands and I'll finish up with the fish." I nod and notice the other container is empty. I go wash my hands and notice a familiar girl with a friend.
"Iliana?" I call walking towards her. She turns around and I light up, "Iliana!"
She spots me and lights up, "Avalon!" We running hug each other and get a few weird looks from people around us. "What are you doing here? I thought you were in New York?"
"I was, I've been," I pause and chose my words wisely. Not a good idea to throw out that I've been kidnapped by demons, sold to demons, and am now currently on a small vacation with my demon boyfriend. "Relocated to Hickory Creek. I'm vacationing with my boyfriend."
"So you live in Texas now?"
"Yeah," I smile.
"Cause Jess and Lo called me looking for you. They've been worried sick." She frowns.
"Damn it! That's what I forgot. " I hiss under my breath. "I forgot to tell them." I lie, something I've gotten really good at since moving in with the St. Claires. "I'll call them when I get back to my hotel." I add seeing the worried look on her face.
"Alright Av. So, who's your new beau." She smiles quickly changing the subject. Bless her little heart for being a curious cat.
"Don't you know what curiosity did to the cat?" I ask placing one hand on my hip. I crack a small smile and she beams.
"Yes, but I don't care. I'm not afraid of Death. I already know it's coming."
I groan as Fabian walks over to us. "I hate when you do that!"
She giggles and her friend clears his throat. "Oh, right. Avalon this is Tyson, my boyfriend." She smiles giddily, wrapping an arm around his waist. "Tyson, this is Avalon Hasting."
"Hi," I give a small wave as Fabian hugs me from behind.
"Sup." Tyson says giving me a head nod.
"Oh, Iliana. This is my boyfriend, Fabian. Fabian this is Iliana and her boyfriend Tyson." I smile leaning back into his inviting chest.
"Aw, you guys are adorable!" Iliana croons.
"I get that a lot." Fabian jokes and Tyson laughs.
I playfully slap his arm, "You guys are cuter." I tell her with a smile.
"In a parallel universe maybe." She scoffs before adding. "We should let you two enjoy each other. Bye Fabian. Bye Av." Tyson and her wave before turning to scurry away.
"I think you scared them." I smile turning around to face him.
"Think it was you." He grins as we untangle ourselves and being to scour the boardwalk in search on fun. We ride all the fast rides and see all the attractions. We eat cotton candy and popcorn and soda and whatever cheesy food people eat in the movies when they go to the fair. He wins me a large stuffed bunny rabbit and I laugh.
"This thing is twice my size!" I exclaim laughing.
He chuckles taking it out of my hand. "I'm going to go put this in the car. Go buy our ferris wheel tickets?"
"Alright." I smile as he hands me a ten dollar bill. He places a soft kiss on my lips before walking towards the parking lot. I walk towards a booth.
"Hey babe. How can I help you?" The guy says with a suggestive smile.
"Two tickets for the ferris wheel." I say rolling my eyes.
"So you wanna meet me with those later?" He asks winking.
"Nah. I think me and my boyfriend will use them now." I state handing him the bill.
He hands me the tickets and change, "Where is your boyfriend then?"
"He's coming." I mutter and he chuckles, I feel his eyes raking my body. "What am I a piece of meat to you?" I snap at him as Fabian walks over.
"Hello lovely." He says kissing me briefly.
"Hi." I smile as he wraps his arms around me, shielding my bare skin from the cool fall air.
"Ready to go?" He asks blowing warm air on my neck. Causing the hair on the back of my neck to rise. He chuckles amused.
"Yeah." I stutter and he wraps his jacket around me.
"You're getting cold." He murmurs as we walk towards the ferris wheel. I shove my arms through the sleeves and rejoice in his scent, minty apple and a dash of cinnamon with a subtle hint of Axe, as we walk. We board the Ferris wheel and he holds me close as we rise.
"Do you know that you are the best boyfriend ever?" I sigh resting my head against his shoulder.
He chuckles, "Only because you are amazing." He smiles down at me as I close my eyes and sigh contently.
"Cinderella and Prince Charming are probably jealous of us and this moment right now." I giggle as he tucks me under his arm.
He lowers his head to my ear, "You are so beautiful in the moonlight."
"Thanks." I smile wrapping my arms around him. "Can we get dinner after this?"
"Yeah," He smiles kissing my cheek. "I another surprise for you back at the hotel."
"You make me feel like a princess." I grin snuggling against him and staring up at the setting sun. "The sky is so pretty."
"Not as pretty as you." He chuckles tilting my head up and kissing my passionately.
I blush red and he smirks. "Fabian!"
"God, the things I will do to you." He says huskily in my ear and I just want to throw myself at him. Thankfully we reach the ground and they let us off. Fabian piggybacks me out to the car as I laugh brushing my cheek against his. He sets me down and I notice the boy that sold me the tickets. He looks at us with his arms crossed squarely across his chest. I shake my head to clear the thought as I wait for Fabian to open the door. He kisses me long and hard before opening my door for me. He shuts it and slides across the front of the hood like James Bond causing me to giggle. I fall asleep on the hour long car ride back to Houston. Fabian is holding me in his arms and we're in a elevator when I wake up. "Nice to see you're awake Sleeping Beauty." He chuckles setting me down.
"Can I help the fact that I'm tired?" I whine and he chuckles.
"I'll let you sleep in tomorrow." He smiles as I lean against him and sigh.
"You are really amazing, what'd I do to deserve you?" I ask burying my face into his chest.
"I don't know, but you're perfect in every virtual way to me."
"Am not." I scoff. "What are we eating tonight?"
"Sushi." He chuckles.
"Do demons like sushi?"
"We're like humans," He chuckles as the door opens and an elderly couple gets on. They look at Fabian holding me in his arms and smile.
"Well, aren't you kids adorable?" The lady chuckles.
"Thank you." I smile, "You and your husband are too."
"Thank you dear." She smiles politely as the doors to floor seven open. Fabian and I get off and walk to our room.
"Yeah?" I ask opening our hotel room door.
"Do you," He stops.
"Do I what?" I ask going inside and rummage around in the closet.
"Never mind. Forget it, it's dumb." He murmurs. I walk over to him and place my hands on his cheeks.
He won't look me in the eye. "Fabian, honey what?"
"Nothing, forget it Avalon. It's dumb."
"Fab, baby. Tell me." I murmur trying to get him to look at me.
"You won't understand." He mutters removing my hands from his face.
"Fabian." I pout, I hated him shutting me out. "Fabian! Just tell me!"
"Avalon, just go get ready." He says and I frown walking to the closet and grabbing my dress and flats. I head into the bathroom as he sits down on the bed. I don't know why but I just want to cry. I turn on the water and strip down. I climb in and start to cry. After a good ten minutes I muster up enough courage to climb out. I dry off and wrap a robe around myself. I blow dry my hair a push it back so I can do my makeup. I finish and blow dry my hair. I curl the brown locks in perfect curls before slipping on my clothes and shoes. I come out of the bathroom and Fabian is already changed in a peach colored dress shirt and slacks.
"Ready?" I ask quietly and he nods. The whole walk down to the car we don't talk and stay a good foot away from each other. The car ride is awkward and we barley talk the whole dinner. I glance at him and bite my lip. "Are you going to talk to me at all for the rest of this trip?" I ask crossing my arms over my chest as he pays the bill.
"Yes." He mutters.
"Really? Cause you barely want to touch me."
"Yes," He repeats working on my very last nerve.
"Whatever. I'm walking back to the hotel." I grumble getting up and storming out of the restaurant. Out of the corner of my eye I see him get up but keep walking. I'm a block away when I start to cry. A silver sport car pulls up beside me.
"Avalon, get in the car." He says.
"Why?" I ask bitterly.
"Avalon please." He begs as I keep walking. I shake my head and continue to walk. Thunder rumbles and it starts to drizzle. "Avalon, you're going to get sick." He says and stubbornly I ignore him. "God damn it Avalon! You have a death wish don't you?" He grumbles parking the car. I squeeze my eyes shut trying to stop the remaining tears and continue walking. Fabian climbs out and I hear his hurried footsteps behind me.
"Leave me alone!" I scream at him. He grabs me and turns me so that I face him.
"Avalon, look at me." He says. I try to avoid his eyes but his hold on my face is a lot stronger than mine. I try to push him away.
"Fabian please. Just leave me alone." I cry before collapsing, his arms catch me.
"Avalon, please lovely. You're going to get sick." He mutters brushing wet strands of hair out of my eyes.
I don't say anything. I just cry into his soaked chest. It's a torrential downpour now. He tilts my head up and softly kisses me, whipping my face with his thumbs. We stay like that for a good 5 minutes before I pull away. I look up at him. "You're going to jinx it." I mumble and he laughs.
"Let's get you into the car." He says hugging me against his chest. He walks to the trunk and grabs something as I turn the heat on high trying to warm up. He brings me a towel and wraps it around me.
"Sorry about your seats." I mumbles pulling the towel tighter around me.
"I can get them fixed. I can't get a new Avalon." He says leaning across the car to kiss me.
"Don't you get sick too?" I ask.
He shakes his head, "Demons hardly ever get sick."
"Wow, looks like you'll out live me." I murmur leaning back against the seat.
"I'd still out live you if you didn't get sick." He mutters as we drive back to the hotel.
"We age slower than humans by a lot." He murmurs.
"How old are you?"
"374, I'll be 375 in a few weeks." He says as we turn a corner.
"You're 374? Man, I'm a." I pause, "I'm a puma!"
"A what?" He chuckles.
"A puma! Like a cougar but since you're older than me I'm a puma!" I explain.
"You are crazy." He smirks and I shrug as we pull into the parking lot.
I run inside first and he follows behind. I shiver and he wraps his arms around me, he is surprisingly really warm. We walk up to the elevator and wait inside. Fabian keeps me warm as we ascend to our floor. We enter the room and I quickly towel off and change into a pair of warm dry clothing. "I'm still cold!" I white climbing under the large fluffy blanket. He smirks and gives me a one second sign. He moves to put something on the door before coming bcd over to the large bed. He climbs in and allows me to cuddle with him. I press my cold fingers to his warm bare chest and moan with delight. "You are so warm!"
He chuckles wrapping his arms around me. "You're so small." he murmurs tucking the blanket around me. After a while I'm warm and pull myself up to kiss him. Let's just say one thing lead to another and you don't need to hear about the rest of the night.
