A soft breeze whispers to my ear,
but I'm sound asleep, I can not hear.
A bomb goes off beyond the house,
but I'm sound asleep, I can not rouse.

Water drips upon my hair,
but I'm sound asleep, I do not care.
Ashes fall, landing on my feet,
but I'm sound asleep, I feel no heat.

The sound of silence, louder than screams-
I hear nothing in my dreams.
The burning touch of licks of fire,
Circling bodies beyond the pyre.

When I wake, I know I will find
that everyone has left me behind
and that I am the only one left here
but now I sleep, I can not fear.
