Oh and Happy New Year to you all! :D
Recap of Fatal Collision Chapter Five:
Tina, the most nosiest girl in the history of nosiest girls since the beginning of time had caught her in a compromising position with one of the most lusted after boys of their entire school. And she herself hadn't seemed to be doing much to get him off of her either. She turned to look up at Riley who was still above her. His gaze was on Tina but as if feeling Camille's eyes turned back to look down her. After a few moments of staring silently at each other, Camille eventually spluttered one word she had decided was appropriate for the situation they were in right about now.
"Shit." She was sure by tomorrow this whole sighting would be the news on everyone's mouths at school by tomorrow morning. What had she gotten herself into now?
Six: Musically Compatible
"No!" This had been going on for twenty minutes now. Camille had been turning down Layla's invitation of going to the mall and Layla would not take no for an answer. She had decided that she didn't need to leave the house for a few days. Maybe she could stay off sick and then eventually things would die down.
News of Camille and Riley's latest interaction had spread like wildfire...and Camille was not at all surprised.
She had seen this coming from a long shot, what with the school's gossip queen being an eye witness and all. She had barely even made it home before Layla and Jordan hand rung her up and interrogated her on what had happened. Yup, Tina Duff was a fast one.
Camille had sighed to herself as she'd walked in through the school's entrance the next morning. She had decided to walk to school alone instead of the usual ride in Jordan's car in fear of Jordan and Layla asking her too many unnecessary questions. It had been a better option to because it had given her time to think over what was to be done about the new situation she had put herself in. And after thinking long and hard in the thirty minutes it took her to get to school, she had decided only one thing was the best option.
Avoid Riley Steele at all costs.
So as she'd walked down the halls to her locker, the plan was set. If she saw a blonde mop of head coming her way she'd run as fast as her legs could take her in the other direction. If a cocky smirk was thrown in her direction she'd look away as quickly as possible – heck, maybe she could even avoid his friends too if that was what it would take.
And she would repeat this process for a while (two, three weeks tops) to the point where she would eventually be yesterday's news.
But yet surprisingly (psh, not really) it didn't work out.
"Fancy seeing you here." Camille froze mid swing of opening her locker door. How had she not heard him from behind her? All her senses were telling her to run away but she seemed to be in a state of shock in which her body was not co-operating. After a few moments of silence Riley decided to speak up again.
"What, am I getting the silent treatment now?" With tense shoulders, she turned around to face the boy to her left, who was leaning on the locker beside hers.
"Riley...go away." She said this sternly, and in a voice so calm it was bound to scare freshman. Camille watched as Riley's lips formed the smirk that she was too used to seeing by now.
"I think I like it here, it's closer to you." He leaned into her personal space a fraction closer, which of course she didn't fail to notice. Not wanting to give her fellow peers another thing to whisper about, she quickly put her jacket in her locker and slammed the metal door shut.
"This discussion is over. I would say bye but then that would mean I consider you a friend or something when you're really just more of a nuisance." With a firm hold on her bag strap, Camille gave him one last look before turning around and attempting walking away. Thinking she'd made it, she'd barely made her second step before a calloused hand had grabbed her wrist and gently tugged her backwards. She almost let out a yelp in mist being spun around, falling in eye contact with green eyes that always seemed to have the power to hypnotize her.
Not that she was going to admit that little known fact any time soon.
"Come on Cammy, don't be like that." His voice had been the optimum of seduction. Camille gulped, not being able to waver away from his smouldering eyes. She could feel his thumb stroking the back of her hand while his other hand was skimming the side of waist. Why hadn't she pushed him off her yet? And had he really just called her Cammy?
No one had ever called her that before – heck even her brother thought 'camouflage' was a better nickname. Why did she suddenly feel tingles all over her body as soon as he had said it? His green eyes moved away from hers for a few moments to look down at her shirt before looking back up at her. She didn't look away from him at all in those few seconds.
"You like Green Day too huh?" He asked, or more like stated. She, for some odd reason was about to nod dumbly, but was then left almost too much into a trance to do anything once he pulled her in even closer.
"Well look at that, so do I." He whispered, close enough to her to make her shiver. It was at that moment when she got her reality check and quickly moved away from him.
"I uh...I've got to get to class." She murmured, springing away from his hold and walking down the halls as fast as she could; even almost breaking into a run.
That had been four days ago, and other than that she had managed to avoid him just fine. She had even given Tina Duff a good talking to and in fear the junior had promised not to bring her into any gossip anymore.
And so that brought her back to where she was now, repeatedly declining the offer that Layla was repeatedly giving her. As she was beginning to contemplate on whether she should just hang up and blame it on bad reception later, Layla spoke up again.
"Come on Cam, I need to get that new CD...and besides didn't Green Day's new album come out like two weeks ago? You've been talking about it for months and you still haven't got it yet!" Camille sighed. She had almost forgotten about that due to the whole fiasco with Riley. Maybe, this could be a good day out for her. The weather did look pretty nice today after all.
"...Okay fine! I'll meet you at the mall in twenty."
"Yay! You're the best!"
"I know I am. See you there."
"I don't see why you can't just go get it next week." Riley told Mikey, annoyed at the fact he was woken from his noon sleep to go to the mall. He wasn't one to sleep in all the time but sometimes he did it on the occasion - this being one of them. If he hadn't been promised curly fries for free he'd still be in bed as of then.
"Dude, it's been two weeks and its Green Day. That means I have to get it now." Mikey told him in a matter of fact tone.
"But that doesn't explain as to why I had to go with you."
"It's like a rule to go to the music store together. Come on, admit it you agree." Riley rolled his eyes as they entered the music store named 'Tune Shark'.
"And I'm meeting Jordan in like twenty minutes anyway so you can go back to your bed soon enough."
"What about my fries?"
"You can take them to go." Riley scowled. He'd left the heaven of his bed sheets for this? They stopped in front of the Rock/Punk section of the store and Riley sulked behind Mikey as he looked for the artists and bands listed under the letter 'G'.
"Good Charlotte, Goo Goo Dolls, Gorillaz...aha! Found it." Mikey exclaimed before taking the Album off of the stack it was under.
"Great...can we go now?"
"Hold on to your balls. I need some new headphones too." Riley groaned exaggeratedly.
"Dude whatever, just hurry up...I'm going to wait outside." Mikey grinned at him.
"You're such an asshole when you're tired." He said, shaking his head in a reprimanding way. Riley in return lifted the corner of his mouth in a smirk, even though he tried his best to prevent it.
"Yeah, I think I of all people would know." He replied before turning around and walking to the store's exit. He was almost to his destination when two voices had him halting in his tracks.
"Whatever Layla, you're delusional!"
"I'm not! He was totally flirting with you Camille." The name had his heartbeat speeding up in an instant...and that caused the immediate thought of what the fuck? to enter his head.
"Girl, he was not flirting with me, if anything he didn't like me very much." The voice seemed to match the name, and so Riley slowly turned around and followed the direction of where it was coming from. After taking about two steps he stopped abruptly once again, staring at the back profile of two girls. One he noticed straight away because she had wavy black hair flowing down to the top of her back, a loosely fitted black t-shirt and dark blue quarter length jeans on that fit well with her brown shapely thighs.
Yup, it was definitely her.
He was suddenly more awake now he noticed, as a smirk once again forced its way to his lips. He began walking towards her and her friend with an excitement he would gladly deny. Maybe he'd stay in the music store for a little longer.
She wanted to go home.
Layla was going on about a guy who she thought was flirting with her but of course Camille knew better. She wasn't the type boys flirted with...unless you were Riley Steele – but he of course probably had some weird goal of scoring a black girl or something so he didn't count. As Layla rambled on about love, her thoughts were suddenly filled with Riley. She wondered what he was doing and who was he with. Probably going at it with some bimbo. She thought bitterly to herself and almost immediately scolded herself for even feeling what could be considered jealous emotions.
"Camille you are listening right?" Layla asked loudly, her eyes narrowed. Camille quickly drew herself out of her thoughts and looked over at her friend who was now frowning at her.
"Psh, yeah I totally was." Camille replied unconvincingly. She let out a few meaningless scoffs before eventually being worn down by Layla's stare – which didn't happen often.
"Okay, I wasn't." She sighed reluctantly. "I was just..."
"Thinking about Riley Steele again huh?" Layla offered, finishing off Camille's sentence where she had trailed off. Camille's eyes widened in turn, but she quickly caught herself and began to chuckle as if Layla was ridiculous; though it sounded more like a nervous 'cover up' giggle.
"What? Of course I wasn't. He doesn't revolve around every female's thoughts you know."
"I know that." Layla replied simply. "But you just happen to be part of the female population that he does revolve around." Taken aback by Layla's smart comeback, Camille just simply glared at her and didn't say anything. She didn't have to anyway because a voice from behind spoke for her.
"You revolve around my thoughts too." Camille's back stiffened at the sound of his voice. She had to be hearing things...right? She and Layla slowly turned around to face where the voice was coming from and they were met with a blonde mess of hair covered by a black beanie, green captivating eyes and a smug smile that formed around an enticing lip ring.
"Well this is awkward." Layla muttered, trying her best to stifle a laugh at the mortified expression on Camille's face.
"How...how long have you been standing there?" Camille asked quietly, not really wanting to know the actual answer. Riley simply grinned before replying.
"Long enough Cammy, long enough." Camille blindly stared at him, as Layla muttered the nickname 'Cammy' questioningly to herself.
"Are you not going to say hello?" Riley asked teasingly, putting his hands in his back pockets. Camille almost immediately snapped out of her trance. She found it weird that he was able to render her speechless by saying one thing and then just by saying something else she was fired and ready for a comeback.
"Not after you were evesdropping on us, no." She said, leering at him and crossing her arms over her chest. She could tell from the gleam in his eyes that he was enjoying the fact she was getting so worked up already and she'd barely been talking to him for five minutes. Why was it that he always seemed to show up at the most convenient of times? Layla cleared her throat and Camille looked over at her.
'I'll be over there.' She signed, before jerking her thumb to her left. Camille's eyes followed where Layla's hand was and she knew when to stop when she saw Mikey Grey standing at the counter laughing it up with the blonde guy working at the counter.
'Don't get into any mess now.' She quickly signed back and Layla grinned at her in response before walking away. Camille watched her retreating back for a few moments before settling her attention on Riley who had a look of wonderment on his face.
"Were you using...sign language?" Camille rolled her eyes but nodded none the less.
"So first you speak Italian and now you're telling me you can sign as well? Do you realise how hot that is?" He took a step closer to her and as a reflex she took a step back.
"No surprisingly I don't." She said sarcastically, taking another step back once he had taken another step forward; but stopping abruptly in front of a rack of CD's so that she didn't knock them over.
"Well it's very hot...very hot indeed." Camille didn't like the way he was towering over her, as he rested a hand on the rack behind her.
"Riley..." She trailed off warningly; he was once again for what had to be the millionth time that week too close for comfort.
"Yes, Cammy?" He asked softly. His face wasn't that far away from hers.
"You need to stop calling me that." She told him firmly before continuing. "And before you try to cage me in a corner like a helpless kitten you might want to remember that I have a knee that could easily kick you in the balls." He chuckled, but didn't move away from her.
"You wouldn't do it." He said shortly, and in a tone that indicated that he was very sure of himself. Camille could feel his body heat as it tingled against her skin, but of course she spoke nothing of it. Instead she raised a lone eyebrow in a way that gave off the impression she was hardly affected by his presence...which was a definite lie.
"And why wouldn't I?" She asked him, tightening her arms across her chest. Riley leaned down to whisper in her ear.
"Because I already know that you like me caging you in corners like a helpless kitten." She shuddered. She couldn't even try at holding it in. His voice was just too raspy to not have anyway effect on her, it was only normal for her to do so.
"W-whatever." She stuttered before she could stop herself. She pushed him away slightly so that she could step around him and walked away. She wasn't surprised that he was following her.
"You know it's true Cammy."
"Stop calling me that!"
"I don't think I will stop...Cammy."
"Ugh!" Riley laughed to himself, stopping only when Camille did. She took off a CD from the rack before her and observed it as if a six foot hot blonde guy wasn't standing directly behind her and reading over her shoulder.
"You haven't bought the album yet?" Riley asked fairly surprised and Camille tensed up before turning around to face him.
"I haven't had the time...not that it's any of your business." Riley smirked down at her and lightly shrugged his shoulders.
"Fair enough," He said casually. "But just know this, I have a feeling you'll like track number five." Camille raised a suspicious eyebrow at him and then quickly glanced at the CD clasped in her hand.
"Well we'll just have to see won't we?" She said simply. She then turned around to face the rack and her eyes skimmed the area filled with different bands and artists all under the same genre. She didn't like that the fact he was still behind her was making her feel nervous.
"And on track number two, Billy Joel's voice sounds awesome there." Something in his voice sounded as if he was being serious and so she looked over at the back of the case in her hand and read the track number's name.
"Hm, Cool." She mused more to herself then him, and didn't realise he was standing next her instead of behind her.
"Yeah." He said, and she jumped, not expecting him to be there by her side.
"Crap! I thought you were standing behind me. What are you a magician?!" He grinned, and moved an inch towards her. Why did he like invading her personal space so much?
"If that's what you want, sure." Camille couldn't help smiling at that. That didn't mean she was warming up to him or anything, just that it was kind of cute...emphasis on the kind of.
Twenty minutes later, Camille had finally picked out everything she needed to. As she walked over to the pay desk, Riley sauntered next to her.
"Uh, Riley? Seriously, you can stop following me now."
"Yeah, but I'd like to escort you to the paying desk." Camille just simply rolled her eyes and didn't reply. She'd find some way to escape without him noticing once she was done. As she put her things on the counter, the blonde guy she had noticed talking to Mikey earlier turned around to face. And as soon as his eyes landed on Camille, they lit up with interest.
"Why hello there." His greeting was alluring, and so was his facial expression. Camille simply smiled at the boy, still not used to this sort of attention from someone of the opposite sex.
"Why haven't I seen you here before?" Camille shrugged, and glanced at the collection of CD's on the counter in front of her before looking back up at the handsome boy.
"I haven't been here in a while, maybe about two months now."
"Ah, no wonder. I started working here a month ago." Camille nodded in understanding, a friendly smile on her face. She looked over at Riley who seemed less than happy standing next to her. What on earth was his problem?
"Cool. Any chance I can buy my stuff now?" She said jokingly. The guy laughed back, embarrassed.
"Oh, right, sorry. I just got distracted by...well you. You're one to easily distract a guy." Camille could feel the heat burning in her cheeks, and couldn't help but find the quiet scoff followed by 'way to be original' she heard muttered from Riley amusing.
"Thanks...I think?" The boy smiled another dazzling smile at her, making his blue eyes pop. Camille couldn't help but admire his features as he scanned her stuff and put them in the bag for her.
"You have some really good taste." He observed, as he finished putting the last of the CD's into the bag.
"I'm glad you think so, I find it hard to find people who have to same music tastes as me." After she uttered the sentence, she heard Riley clear his throat from behind her, and so she turned around to look at him.
"What?" She asked him simply.
"I listen to the same music as you." She stared at him for what seemed like a long time blankly before eventually replying.
"...Right." She said shortly and then she turned around to look back at the handsome guy standing behind the paying desk.
"Anyway," The guy said somewhat awkwardly, "That'll be twenty dollars gorgeous." Camille smiled upon hearing the nickname before handing him the money. After he'd put it in the till, she thanked him as he handed over her bag of CD's.
"So I'm Steve," He said, leaning his forearms on the table so that he was closer. "And you are?"
"Camille," She replied clutching the plastic back in front of her somewhat shyly.
"Well Camille – pretty name by the way – how's about you and me go out some -"
"Oh well look at the time!" Riley said abruptly, cutting of Steve mid sentence. He quickly put an arm around Camille's waist.
"Looks like we're late for that thing...come on Cammy." Camille too dumbfounded to speak let Riley lead her in direction of the exit; his arm still around her waist. However once they were almost out the door her senses came back.
"What are you doing?" She asked astonished, shoving his arm away from her waist.
"Saving you from that guy!" He told her matter-of-factly. "He was a total tool." Camille let out a disbelieving laugh and folded her arms across her chest.
"Oh and you aren't?" Somewhat offended, Riley was stumped for words momentarily – but not for long of course.
"Well... I already called dibs on you." There was a silence as Camille took these words in before she stood to her full height. You could tell she was getting angry because a spark of a glare was noticeable in her hazel eyes.
"You are not serious." Riley grinned as he looked down at her from his 6'2 frame. The look in his own eyes were a clear contrast to hers and from the looks of things it was a mixture between being amused and turned on.
"Why wouldn't I be?" As he said this he took a step closer to Camille, probing her to take a step back and to let out a scoff before walking away.
"You sicken me Riley Steele." She said loudly over her shoulder so that he could hear before starting her search for Layla. Where on earth had she gone off too?
It wasn't long before she found her with Riley's friend Mikey...and Jordan? Looking as if there was a heated argument going on?
What the heck was happening?
She strode over to them and observed the hurt face of Layla's, the pissed off face of Jordan's and the Awkwardly amused face of Mikey's.
"What's going on guys?" Camille asked loudly enough for all of them to look in her direction. Jordan was of course the one to speak up first.
"Absolutely nothing," She insisted, though she glanced over at Layla who seemed to be in a sulk. "Mikey and I were just leaving." Jordan grabbed Mikey's hand and began to stride off, muttering a quick by to Camille as she passed by her.
"Layla?" Camille asked confused as she turned to her friend. Layla looked as if she wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
"I uh...don't worry about it Cam." Layla said, not even bothering to explain and only managing a grimace instead of a smile. Once getting uncomfortable under Camille's stare Layla spoke up again.
"I've g-got a go." She quickly walked passed Camille, practically running out of the shop and all Camille could do was turn around slowly to stare off at the place Layla had just been. Was trouble brewing for her and her friends? If so she had no time for it.
She already had a hot blonde troublemaker grinning at her from halfway down the store to deal with.
Oh wow, I'm so sorry for not updating for so long. The past few months have been tough on me concerning family issues and I also had to deal with two broken fingers no thanks to my school and such so I do have a legible excuse - though I really am sorry for the hold up!
I also had trouble with finding a way to write this chapter up to standard in which I was happy with - and to be honest I'm still not happy with it. I had made it my goal to do an average of 5000 words per chapter for this fic but I just couldn't will myself to write any more on this one. Sorry guys :(
I hope you enjoyed this chapter anyway and trust me there is plenty more Riley and Camille interactions to come. If anyone is still out there - considering there wasn't that many to begin with - please leave a review? That would be so incredibly awesome.

Until next update! (which will be much sooner I promise haha)
