The Face

A child is born,

A car horn,

A summer breeze,

A winter wind,

A childhood game,

A familiar name,

A picture frame,

Holding you,

Holding me,

Holding us,

A crooked smile,

A squinted eye,

A sunny day,

From far away,

From an ancient past,

A happy memory,

Of lying in the grass,

Holding hands,

Putting on a show,

A secret dance,

That only we would know,

A sleeper stirs,

A whispered word,

Day is night,

As night is day,

And I am born again.
