Dreams. Those wonderful visions your mind creates to escape, the reality. A dream can make you feel like you are on top of the world, in fact, in some dreams you are, but no other dream could compare to the one I'm currently having.

Sugar Plumes danced around a heated fireplace, while Santa Claus merrily "Ho Ho Ho'd". Presents were scattered under a large Christmas Tree, my little brother in bed having a peaceful dream...

The little elves were tickling my younger sister to keep her from crying all through the night. My 'mother' GONE with that man she practically forced to live in the house.

Yes, we weren't even IN our mother's house, this house I remember from my childhood associated with all the happy memories in my life. This is my dad's house in C... "Rachel! Get your ass out of bed!"

I sighed, as I squeezed my eyes shut in an attempt to make the dream return to me.

"Knew it was too good to be true." I mutter, already dreading the day to come, or at least that was before I remembered a key factor that would brighten it all up.

I swiftly brush my hair, dress, and go through all my morning activities before I move down the stairs and through the dining room, into the kitchen.

"Morning." My Step Father greets, as I make a point to ignore him.

My little brother James, who was sitting beside him, nods at me in recognition and my two year old sister smiled, a toothy little grin would actually be a more appropriate term for it.

Naturally I coo at her cuteness and pluck her from her high chair. "How is my cite widdle Cas..."

"Sit down and eat your breakfast." My mother interrupted coldly, breaking the little giggles my sister had been making.

I glanced briefly at the food, before glaring at my mother in disgust. "I'll pass."

I then sat down next to my cute sister and began to feed her. As I could have guessed my mother reacted poorly. Her fork dropped from her hand, her eyes closed, and her fist trembled as she tried to suppress her anger.

My step father sighed. "Just eat Rachel." He muttered, as my brother smirked.

"What do you say we go over to Dairy Queen?" He asked hopefully, putting on an innocent smile, my mother's frown deepened. My brother didn't smile for her.

I nodded in confirmation, putting Cassie down. "Far better than the stuff Elizabeth makes." James snickered, as he got up from the table and walked smoothly out the door.

"Rachel! You take that car and I swear I'll..."

"You'll do what mom? I bought it, I pay insurance, I can do what I want." With that I followed my brother's example and walked out the front door without a glance back, ignoring my mother's screams of rage.

'I'm seventeen, she can't tell me what to do. Soon I'll move out and wait for my siblings to do the same, she'll never see any of us again.'

James was looking forward to moving out as well, he'd decided he'd try to get emancipated as soon as I graduated and turned 18, then we'd live together.

At the moment he's 15, but in two months time he will be a perfectly behaved 16 year old. I got in my old Ford, which looked like it was created about 70 years ago, but hey it runs right?

I grinned at James who was eagerly talking about what ice cream he would be getting. "That's not all! Zack will be there!"

James choked. "Zack's coming?" He whispered in excitement.

Zack is our older brother, he's actually my twin, but mother couldn't stand him so she let his guardian change from her to Zack's best friend's mother two years ago.

Ever since she's forbidden us to see each other, while he's been making an effort to meet us in various restaurants and shopping malls, without the knowledge of anyone.

Though we still go to school together, but as I said we are forbidden to make contact. As I'm thinking this, I've just pulled up at Dairy Queen by the way.

James gets out of the car. Checking his reflection in the window. I snort. "Boys." though I do the same.

Through the mirror I see blue eyes staring back at me curiously, my long black hair naturally wavy is half up and half down, (1) though a little messed up to add a cute look.

My lips barely glossed, just enough to draw attention to them.

My mascara and eyes liner is light, but makes my sapphire eyes stand out perfectly.

I turned back to my brother. "You ready? Or are you still working on your hair?" I asked, he snorted. "Please, I just want to look my best for the ladies."

His eyes run over me. "You didn't need to get all dressed up." I look down at what I'm wearing.

A silver tang top under a thin black shirt that was almost see through (2) with cute silver patterns covering it, a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a pair of black stiletto boots. (3)

"I'm not dressed up... wait we kind of match."

James was wearing a tight black muscle shirt and loose dark blue jeans, along with a pair of black sneakers.

His black hair was slightly messy, the main difference to us was our eyes. His eyes are a twinkling emerald.

He shrugged holding the door open for me. We walked up to the counter and he smirked at the girl behind it, causing the blond to swoon. "May I take your order?" She asked completely ignoring me.

"Yes! We'll take two large cones dipped in chocolate!" I interrupt sweetly. She glared at me like I was a threat to her very existence before asking for the appropriate amount of cash.

After I had handed her what was needed, I literally dragged my young devilish brother away. "Why do you keep doing that!" I hiss causing him to shrug.

"I just got to looking like this, might as well use it to my advantage... if you'd waited a little longer I could have got us a discount." He muttered as an afterthought.

"What was that!" I practically bit out.

Unfortunately it was true. Since the school year ended he'd been lifting weights and exercising like crazy.

Now he had huge muscles and awesome tan, as well as abs... seriously the guy had an AMAZING six pack and this is my little brother we are talking about! I was there when he was in DIPPERS!

Anyway his nickname was 'Chubs' before, so we'll just have to see if there's an improvement in his reputation.

"It doesn't matter! You don't need to smirk flirtatiously at every pretty girl you see!" I muttered.

He shrugged, as we sat down at a booth. "So when's Zack getting here?"

"250!" The girl's voice called out. I got up quickly. "Stay here, and stay out of trouble!" I growled still slightly upset that he was purposely trampling on some poor girl's feelings.

A few seconds later I came back with our cones, and handed one to James before sitting down. I watched as he took a bite of the chocolate so he could get into the cream faster.

I roll my eyes. "Can't you just eat it like a normal person?"

He snickered before taking a bite out of the bottom of the cone. "That normal enough for you Rach?" I slapped my forehead in frustration and began to eat the chocolate off the top. "You're supposed to eat the chocolate, before you eat the ice cream!"

He raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Is there an instruction manual I missed out on? I had no idea there was a certain way you had to eat ice cream!"

"Yes! You are supposed to save the ice cream for last!"

"Really?" He said now being completely sarcastic.

"This is quite fascinating! Tell me Rach, how do you keep your ice cream from melting as you eat both the chocolate and the cone? In fact, where do you put the ice cream once the cone is gone, you don't just stuff it in your mouth... right?"

I slap my forehead again, as I let out a groan. "Nevermind..."

He grinned, obviously deciding he had won.

"Is this seat empty?" A deep voice suddenly cut in.

(2) The thin shirt is the reason you can make out a hint of the silver tang top underneath. In facts it's why she needs the silver tang top underneath.
