CHAPTER 5: Freaky Stuff Happens in the Parking Lot of Dunkin' Doughnuts
How is that even possible! That she- devil can convince my parents to let her stay for as long as she wants-they even got her residence here-, when it takes me, their own son, THREE HOURS just to convince them to let my friends stay over to watch a football game! And she's going to school with me! WHY?! Somehow, I know that the world is turning over and God is being cruel to me.
Andrew looked over at the passenger side of his 1997 Toyota Camry and saw the most hideous yet beautiful sight: he saw Anna smiling a smug smile and giving him a look of victory. One; because since she was basically an "orphan running away from her horrid family" and because ofAndrew's overly sympathetic parents,Andrew had to care for her every need. Two; even though it had taken almost several months, Andrew parents had finally registered Anna for a residential Green Card
"Okay, here's the deal", Andrew stated. "I'm going to help you get through with the registration at school but I'm not going to show you to your classes and your going to stay as far away from me as possible, got that?"
"Uh huh, I 'got that'", she said, barely paying attention to whatever andrew said. "But here are some rules for you to follow. One: Your mother has said that you are to attend to my every need, my every need, so that means that I'm going to run you ragged." She was now face to face with Andrew. She bared her teeth at him and Andrew saw the faintest hint of a fang. Andrew's mind instantly went back to his cold dream of cold fangs. "Was it her?" Andrew thought. "If so, then what is she?"
Her grey eyes flashed silver for a fast second, but then went back to their normal grey.
"Second", she continued as if none of that freaky stuff ever happened. "I'm hungry. I want something to eat."
What? He gave Anna a completely blank look.
"You heard me, I'm hungry. I want something to eat." Andrew didn't really fight against her order because he was really hungry too. They had to skip breakfast this morning in order to convince the board and police to let Anna's register at the school on time.
Stupid "princess"! She messed with my sleeping and now she's messing with my breakfast! I'm a growing boy, damn it! I need breakfast!
Andrew drove into the parking lot of a Dunkin' Doughnuts. He was craving for something with caffeine, doughy, sweet, and fried in partially hydrogenated oil. He leaped out of the car.
"Uh, I don't eat" – Anna stared to say, but Andrew didn't really care about what she had to say.
Food, food, food, food, food, food, FOOD!
Andrew came out of Dunkin' Doughnuts with an armful of doughnuts and two iced coffees.
"Hey", Andrew said calmly yet sarcastically. "Don't worry, I got some for you too, out of the goodness of my heart."
Anna looked at the food and crinkled her nose with disgust as she watched Andrew sink his teeth into a jelly filled one.
"What, you don't like doughnuts?"
"As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted by your sudden dismissal, I don't eat your kind of food."
"Fine! Then what do you 'royalty' people eat, then?" Andrew said while stuffing his face with doughnuts. Anna smiled slyly.
"I will show you." She tightened the seat belt around him.
What is going on? Then Anna moved closer to him. As she moved closer her eyes started glowing silver. Andrew felt as if he couldn't move.
I'm getting really weirded out now! She moved toward his neck. Then Andy as if he had two thin knives going into his neck and sending a familiar icy cold waves and freezing his body. Time seemed to slow down. Andrew blacked out.
WHAT IS GOING ON? The cold was soon replaced by the feeling of sunshine and daisies and Andrew was gaining consciousness and the feeling of his body again. WhenAndrew came to, he sawAnna; examining her face in the rearview mirror. Andrew looked around him; they were already in the school parking lot.
"Come on slow poke", Anna said as she got out of the car. Still in a daze Andrew got out of the car, feeling light headed and a bit sleepy. He looked back at Anna as she headed towards the school. She must've felt him staring at her because she turned back, looked at him and then smiled a smile that looked as if she had a secret. Then Anna continued walking as if nothing ever happened.
What just happened?!
She floated up from her chair in the air, flying out the window. "Good-bye, darlings!"
