Yes, I own this story. It is an original and not a fanfiction.
And to DiamondPheonix12...thank you do much for the review! You are my first reviewer and I am so glad you reviewed one of my stories! Thanks to you I was able to get this chapter out. Thank you again! :)
It was the night after we moved into the new house, in a new town, and in a new state.
I was just about to drift off to sleep when a strange noice from my bedroom closet disturbed me.
I rubbed away what sleep I still had and got out of my bed. I crept over to the closet and stood off to the side and grabbed my softball bat from behind me. I brought it to my front and grabbed the doorknob. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly before I threw it open.
Nothing happened. I peeked around the door to take a look inside but there was nothing there but an old, ancient looking book with a strange cover. I laughed at myself and picked it up and brought it over to my desk and flicked on the switch to the reading lamp.
I set my bat back where I had it and went back to the book to get a good look at its cover.
The cover was crimson with a gold rim and the name, which was in silver lettering, caught my attention. The Book of Fantasy: Bridge of Both Worlds, it read and I flipped it to the front page. It was a dedication to the clan of Bookeepers. I rolled my eyes at that one and flipped to the next page.
It was weird. It only had one sentence written and it puzzled me.
"Only the Bookeeper will be able to turn to the next page and access the hidden power this book holds." I murmered and shook my head.
"I'm too tired for this shit." I muttered and went to shut it but something stopped me. I turned back to the page to find more written.
"Only the Bookeeper shall see the story of how this book came to be and see the message written here." I whispered and growled. I was getting annoyed by this. I must be hallucinating or something.
I sighed and turned off the light and went back to my bed. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep as one thought floated around in circles in the back of my mind, who or what was a Bookeeper?
I awoke to the sound of my mother screaming at the top of her lungs. I jumped out of my bed and grabbed my bat from its corner and flew out of my bedrrom.
I skipped steps three at a time and went for the kitchen where she was standing on a counter and pointing at a mouse. I dropped my bat and just stared at it and then my mother.
"Kill it!" She shrieked.
"Carrie." I called out.
"Kill it! Kill it! Kill it!" She shrieked ignoring me.
"Carrie!" I screamed and she finally looked at me.
"You don't have to scream this early in the morning!" I snapped and her mouth dropped in surprise.
I picked up the mouse by its tail and set it down gently in the back yard porch.
I, then, washed my hands, picked up my bat, stomped up the stairs, went into my room, slammed the door, dropped my bat, and collapsed onto my bed with a sigh.
Carrie wasn't my real mother. She found me when I was only an infant with a light pink blanket wrapped around me with my first name sewn in it. She took one look and knew that I was hers. She took me home and has kept me ever since.
To me, she is my mother. A little childish at times but still my mom. I loved her with my whole heart.
A small frown came across my face as I realized I most likely hurt her. I sighed and went to get up but couldn't find the energy to. I sighed once more and closed my eyes. I would appologize when I wake up again. That's what I'll do.
I drifted off to sleep with that thought in mind.
Okay! This chapter is done! Tell me what you think by reviewing for me! :)
