raindrops on the window elicit
the pitter patter from the pane
creating an untimely harmony with
the ticking of grandfathers grandfather clock
a faint stereotypically odoured mist
swirls between the sink-holed sofas
and the chairs on threadbare carpets
shuffled on shuffle-proof rugs frayed at the edges
like the shuffled round frayed edges
of the sitting shuffler's
minds sagged in seating
positions of varying
posture determined by the life they
lived now swirling like the stereotypically odoured
mist impossible to keep
in grasp and more widely dispersed with
each patter and
pitter and tock and tick
of grandfathers rain and the clock on the window
