My heart is fragile but strong. My soul is nothing but black, thus, I am as dark as the demons under. How is it I've become so dark and empty? Is it because I've been waiting for him to comeback? It's been years? Where are you my love? I'm waiting

She kept me inside all the time. She told me, it wasn't me, it was just the world. Then,I never experienced the "world" before, but she told me that it was a bad place to live in.

My mother, she looked old, like in her 50's. She was skinny, and unhealthy. Her hair was thin and reddish white. Her eyes were dark blue. Well, one of her eyes were. The other just has an eye patch on it.

As for Me, I didn't look like her at all. It was like, she adopted me.

"Eden…" She mumbled on her bed. "Get me some water…"

"Yes, mother," I said as I ran downstairs. It was just her and me. The world I lived in wasn't the world to be excited about.

There was this country I country I lived in, right between Rome, Germany and Russia. Inside that that circle, was small cities called Sinem, Valland and Kalland. I just lived in Sinem, world of Vampires.

Vampires? Yeah, those things.

Demons, ugly, nasty things.

I hated them because they hated us.

Us humans.

My mother told me I was lucky to be human and I was happy for that, but I wasn't allowed to leave the house. I could only stay in my backyard, where I stood most of the time. I was a lonely kid, only 14. I always wanted to know how to live outside the world all the time. It made me want to rebel.

I grabbed the cup, and filled it up with water. I ran upstairs back to my sick mother.

She smiled when she saw me.

"Thank You, Eden," She said. I didn't respond. She was so fragile.

"Mom," I began as I sat down on this wooden chair. The chair I symbolized as trust for my mother. "Before I was born, were you this alone?"

"No, of course, you did have brothers and sisters."

"Well, I know about brother Malik. But that's all I know."

"That's all you need to know, Eden. You are a different generation, my angel." Mother touched my cheek. The way my mother showed gratitude was very creepy.

"You should rest,I'll get your prescribed medicine."

"Don't be long, I'll be waiting!"

I took off.

The only times I've only go outside into the world, was when I get my mother medicine, which was about once a month. It was the beginning of summer, and the sun hurt my skin. I was naturally tan, even though I'd always be inside.

I heard that everybody was tan in valland, because they always work in field in the summer. In sinem, we're as white as snow, well, the vampires are.

That was one thing I told the difference between a human and a vampire, the skin. It wasn't always true, but I saw it most of the time. Vampires reeked of blood and a random great scent. It was a weird smell, but it was really strong. Also, vampires had those unique eye's and hair. Some had purple hair and bright neon eye's..

One more thing that make vampires so obstinate, was their personality, Lust.

I stepped into the pharmacy, and the cashier gave me a smile.

"Good afternoon, Eden," He began. "What are you here for this day?"

"Pills were supposed to come today, under the last name of Nurell," I said.

"Ahh, Yeah, of course!" The cashier bent down, and made a lot of noise. He pulled out a brown paper bag. "Here you go!"

"Thanks," I said as I took it. To come and think of it, never knew what kind of pills my mother was chewing on. It didn't matter.

"Oh, and tell your mom to hang on, It must be hard taking care of a sick person like her. Teens usually don't go through this."

"Thanks."

It wasn't that hard, It maybe hard to believe but, I really didn't care.

My mother and I didn't have a solid relationship. She stayed in her room, and I stayed on my yard, and played all by myself.

I couldn't blame her, it was the vampires who made her so cold hearted.

"Screw them all…" I mumbled. I was in my own world of hatred until I heard a girly voice scream,

"LOOK OUT GET OUT OF THE WAY!"

I quickly looked up, and dodged the girl on her bike. It was a close call, but I heard a big crash.

I turned around, and saw her on the floor, and her bike against a pole, wrecked.

"Oww oww oww owww…" She mumbled as she rubbed her knee. I ran up to her to see if she was badly hurt.

"Are you okay?" I asked her. "You came at the last second."

"It's okay!" She slowly stood up, and she was smaller than I, like a 10 year old. 13 for her small curves and boobs. I chuckled.

Her hat was beside me though. It was ugly and old. I picked it up.

"Is this yours?" I asked.

"Yes!" She said as she took it and placed it on her head.

She looked so different. She didn't look like a vampire nor smelled like one. But she had bright blue eye's and long black hair. She lifted up her bike, which was not her fit, and she sighed.

"My bike is wrecked…" She said.

"How did it wreck that bad? You only ran into the pole."

"It's made out of tin!" Tin? Jeeze, that girl must be poor. "Auoh…How am I gonna get home now?"

"I'll carry the bike for you if you want, and I can walk you there."

"Really? Thanks!" She said with a huge smile. "But…I live so far away."

"Far away isn't in my dictionary, trust me." I lifted up her bike. "Where are we going?"

"West! Follow me!" What was she? A level 3 student? If I was in school, I'd be a level 8. I followed the weird little girl.

"Where did you come from anyways?" I asked.

"From school. I had to do some stuff, but I never knew it'd be so busy!"

"Where's your parents? Why would you wonder by yourself in sinem like that? Don't you know how dangerous it could be for a little girl like you?"

"Hah…sorry! My parents tell me that all the time. They say, 'Honey! Pedofiles can mistake you as a little girl!'" She had a weird mocking voice of a grown up, but it made me want to laugh.

"Mistake?"

"Yes. I'm, 15." I nearly dropped dead when she said that.

"15? Only 15?"

"I'm a level 9 student! I was taking the Sinem assessment test for the 10th level..."

"then why are you so small!"

"Auoh…I don't know! People ask that a lot when they first meet me! It's really annoying…" It got quiet for a second.

"So…how tall are you?"

"Auoh! Does it matter! I'm four feet and ten inches tall!"

"Jeeze...that's like 5 rulers..."

"Stop it! Speaking of which, I've never seen you in school before, or are you just older than you look?"

"I don't go to school."

"Oh…" She looked at me for a long time. "Are you a vampire?"

"NO! What gives you an idea that I am!"

"Nothing, it's just that you have a weird shade of blond hair! And your eye's are pretty! It reminds me of the ocean!"

"It's called dirty blond, and how does green remind you of the ocean?"

"You haven't been to the ocean before, haven't you."

"Once I get older, I'm travelling to Canada, by myself, and maybe I can take a glance there." She looked around, and the sun was setting.

We were far west, too far, next to that dirty place.

"So, this is where we part!" she said.

"Wow, you do live so far."

"Ehh, not if you have a friend to talk to…and a bike!" I looked at the bike as I placed on the ground. "I'll just ask my dad for a new one!"

She took the bike and she gave it a push.

"Oh, by the way, I'm Vannestarosa , aquentises call me Vanessa, but you can call me Nessa. How about you?"

"I'm Eden."

"Alright, Eden!" She chuckled a bit. "That's a sweet name, Then I'll see around then!" She hopped on her bike, and rode away.

Did I make a new friend? If I did, then, I should have been proud. It would have been my first friend ever made.

I hoped to see her again, but It would be a long time until I do, since I was basically trapped in my house.

Little did I know, I started counting down the days.

"You took longer than expected," Mother said.

"Sorry, I was just helping a little girl after she crashed on her bike."

"That's sweet, Eden…" My mother said as she laughed. "You are the sweetest son I've ever had."

I wondered how my other brothers were like, but I knew mother hated to talk about it.

"Is she a Vampire?" Mother continued.

"No, you know how much I hate those…things. I can sense them the second I spot them." I pretended to punch them in the face. "I'd wouldn't do a damn thing for her if she was…"

"Oh, is that so?" My mother chuckled for a while. It made me turn my attention to her. "My Eden, becareful." I didn't know what she meant, but it gave me chills, in a bad way. "You are my son, and my last. Try not to get caught in things, like your other brothers did."

"Caught in what? You don't even let me out of the house anyways." I looked at her, and she was giving me a dead glare.

It was like, I felt my blood rushing through my veins. My heart was beating so hard. My throat was dry, and I felt nauseous. I was terrified of something, so scared. But I couldn't move, I just listened.

I felt something so evil. Something evil she was feeding to me, but all I did was take it in. She shut her eyes and smiled.

"You are free," She said to me.
