Kate got into the car and slammed the door. She was almost crying. She couldn't believe he would do this to her. James got in on the drivers side and closed to door. Kate faced the window as he began to drive away from their friend Nicole's house. One of her biggest weaknesses was her jealousy. Nicole was a very hands-on kind of person and Kate understood that that was the way she was, but she still didn't like when she was like that with Kate's boyfriend.
"I don't understand what I did." James said calmly.
"Bull shit. You know what you did."
"I don't see why it's such a big deal, she's always been like that. It's never bothered you before."
"Yes it has! I've told you that it bothers me and you haven't done anything about it! You just go on and I have to sit there and watch while one of my best friends is all over my boyfriend. It isn't a good feeling."
"Well she's one of my friends so you're just going to have to deal with it." James wasn't about to lose another argument. Nicole was his friend and he didn't see anything wrong with the way she acted.
Kate didn't say anything. She just sat and stared out the window. She was crying a little bit, but she would never let James see that. She was supposed to be pissed. Crying wouldn't help her case. Even if it would, she didn't want him to see her cry. James reached over to put his hand on her leg.
"Baby I'm sorry. I know it bothers you but I don't know what to do."
"Whatever."
"I'm trying to apologize why are you being such a jerk!"
"Because I'm tired of having this argument with you! I've told you this again and again and nothing is ever any different!" Kate's voice was raising and she was openly crying at this point.
"Maybe I would do something about it if it wasn't such a stupid thing to be pissed about!" Both of them were yelling at the same time. The car was filled with noise and neither one of them was paying much attention to what was going on around them in the heat of the fight. People in other cars were starting to stare, so they all saw the car that James nearly hit. To avoid the crash he swerved off the road. Kate screamed. The car hit a tree. Everything went black.
