Kate stood over the grave. Everyone else had gone home, but she came back. She had changed into jeans and a t-shirt.
"I'm sorry." She said, as she started to cry.
"Don't be." James answered from behind her.
"It's my fault. I shouldn't have started that fight. If you had been paying attention you wouldn't have crashed. You wouldn't be..." She couldn't say it.
"Kate, you have to let go. Beating yourself up won't bring me back. Let me go." She shook her head violently.
"I can't. You're my everything. Why did you give up? Why didn't you fight?"
"I didn't have much choice." He frowned and put his hand on her shoulder.
"I never got to tell you I love you." She whispered. "My last words to you were angry. I loved you so much. I didn't tell you. I love you." She fell to her knees. "I love you..."
"I know." James replied. "I love you too. I have always loved you. You know that. Never forget it. I loved you. Now, let me go. Be happy. For me." She just kept crying. She closed her eyes. When she opened then again, he was gone. This time, she knew he wouldn't be back. She put the roses she had brought on the gravestone. She stepped back and whispered, "Goodbye, James". She took one last look at the stone before she turned to leave. She put her hand on the necklace he had given her. "I will always remember you."
