Of Hot Weather and Summer Vacation

When the weather turns hotter and the sun beats down,

The pool is uncovered and swimming gear found.

There's what they call 'summer romance' and lovey-dovey things,

But who cares about that, bring out the watermelon and chicken wings!

Ice cream and parties fill our days,

And sometimes at our house grandmother stays.

Reading programs at my local library,

My mother starts to make her garden flowery... (Oh what an epic fail…)

Our air conditioner gets broken and we're too hot,

So we have to hang out at grandma's and learn to dance like a robot.

All too soon summer is done,

We're all tan and tired from the fun.

Not to worry, though,

After three more seasons we'll get to watch the fireflies glow.
