Beautiful Lies

You tell me that the stars shine brighter
On the other side,
And that the night is peaceful,
And that the sun will always rise.

You tell me that the wind will blow softly,
When I arrive,
And that there is shelter from the cold,
And that the people all survive.

You tell me that their eyes are kinder,
When they look into your face,
And that their words are joyful,
And that I will see better days.

You speak so calmly,
When you tell me these lies,
And while the lies may be beautiful,
They hurt me more than any other.
