Chapter 3: Showtime

Ryu nodded and asks, "Do I pretend to 'love' you now then?"

I blushed even more as he asked that and slightly nodded my head. Immediately I felt a hand gently push my head to Ryu's shoulder and a pale arm wrap around my waist. "R-Ryu…?" I ask nervously.

"I'm acting like I 'love' you, right?" Ryu questioned as he tightened his hold on me…

I didn't expect him to agree and act like he 'loves' me… For once, fate is a good thing, for now.

I smiled awkwardly. "Yeah, I guess so. Thank you so much Ryu."

"No problem."

"You have no idea how much trouble you saved me from," a sigh released from my lips.

"I'm assuming I'm your savior?"

I grinned and punched him playfully on the arm. "How'd you guess, Ryu?"

He rested his thumb on his lips and thought for a minute.

"Well, there's a 49.5% that you meant that I saved you from people being suspicious that you 'chickened' out of the dare, 10% that you randomly said that without a valid reason, 20% that I saved you from how angry Catherine would get from you telling me it was a dare, and 16.9% that you genuinely thought I saved you from everything," he deducted deeply.

"Whoa," I stared at him in disbelief, "how in the world did you get those exact percentages in a few minutes?"

"Your body language and facial expressions give it away. The sigh indicates that you feel relieved. The way you unconsciously avoided my eye contact suggests insecurity. Your crossed arms meant that you felt a bit suspicious of me as well."

Whoa, how did he figured that all from mere observations? This kid is one smart genius. Or I'm just one dumb idiot. Hopefully, not the latter answer.

Ryu continued, "Once I correctly guessed, your lips slightly parted meaning you were surprised. As I explained my reasoning, you starting twirling your hair for a few seconds. That means you felt slightly bored but pretended you were actually paying attention."

I smiled. "You are one smart kid, eh?"

"Even now, you hesitated to answer which meant you were unsure if I would approve of your answer," he smirked.

A glare directed towards him. "Okay, now it's getting very annoying."

"The glared indicates you are annoyed at me or maybe even irritated. The emphasized 'very' indicates you want me to stop. Your eyes narrowing at my previous sentence, proves my thoughts correct. Okay, that hard pinch on my arm means you are now mad possibly angry and it hurts a lot."

I pinched even harder on his pale arm and he flinched. "Please stop, Miyuki. You gain nothing out of this and you acknowledge it."

While ignoring the urge to intensify the pinch, I reluctantly let go.

"You know," he rubbed his now red arm, "that actually hurt."

I smiled sweetly. "Well, you brought this on yourself, Ryu!"

"Correction, it is your choice to pinch me and you chose to do so. Therefore, I did not bring this upon myself."

This kid can really piss someone off. I clenched my fists in frustration. "You really know how to piss someone off, huh."

"Yes, according to you."

"Seriously, you are actually making me mad now."

"Then congratulations to me."

I raised an eyebrow in question, "Your goal is to piss me off and not try to look like we're together like the dare?"

"Correct," he simply said without a second thought.

"You are really something, Ryu." I laughed.

"Thank you."

"That was an insult."

"Then, no thank you. How dare you say that."

I started laughing so loud that I almost fell off the chair I was sitting on. Ryu just stared at me like I was a madwoman as a pounded my fists on the desks while manically laughing.

"Are you okay?" My classmate, Elizabeth, asked with a genuine expression of concern.

"Yes," I managed to say through laughs, "I'm fine, don't worry."

"Are you sure about that? The way you were laughing suggests you might be mentally unstable," Ryu mused while resting his thumb on his mouth cutely.

"I am not retarded either." I glared at him.

I think everyone within hearing distance was eavesdropping because they all exploded into colourful laughter. Yep, we've got eavesdroppers to deal with alright. People these days. From the corner of my eye, I spotted Catherine walk inside the classroom.

Suddenly, I forced Ryu to rest his arm on my shoulders and I awkwardly placed my head on his shoulder.

"Catherine's here." I whispered so only he would hear.

He nodded briefly and smiled like a love sick fool. Wow, such a good actor. That was unexpected. I played on and smiled lovingly. It's showtime and Catherine Williams you are going down girl.
