Chapter 54

"Ugh.." I moan as I sit up and hold my face. My whole body hurts. Probably from sleeping on this hard floor for who knows how long. After I stretched a little I stood up and examined my surrounding. I'm in a tiled room with a little window and a metal table. I look out the window but it's too bright so I can't see. I go to the door and it's locked but it has a small window I look out the window but there are just more doors. "Hello! Is anyone there?" No response. Great. I pace around the room and I check my pulse. Okay I'm alive, mark that off the to-do list. Okay if they can't hear me maybe Luke can (Even though I hate him with all my will, I'm scared, okay. I admit it) Luke.. Nothing. Luke! Luke can you hear me! Still nothing, tears stream down my face. Luke! Please help me! Luke.. I crumble on the floor in defeat. "Someone help me!" I sob. Mia? Oh my God Luke! Luke, is that you? Oh my God, Mia! Are you okay? We have been looking for you for days! Where are you? Crap. I have no idea where I am. I..I don't know. But I'm..alone..and..I'm..scared. I said in between sobs. Shh..Mia it's okay I'm going to find you okay, Just describe where you are. I take a shaky breath..Okay. I stand up and look out the window again. I can make out a tall gate but that's it. Okay, there is a gate and I think the building is make of brick. It's an old building. There are no lights in here and the door is locked. I waited for a response and after a minute I said Luke?...Sorry Mia, I was telling Trix about the building you're in. What can you tell me about the hall way? I stand up and look out the small glass panel and see a tiled hallway with doors like the one I'm starring through. There is a little blue box on the wall but I can't read what It says. My head hurts. The light fixtures look older. Okay, the hallway is tile and has no power but the light fixtures look older and the doors have heavy locks on them and one the one across the hall is.. I can faintly make out something splattered on the wall.. covered in blood. I see a small shadow and I dive back into the position I woke up in. Luke someone is here.. Mia, be careful Trix says you're at the old TB Hospital we are on our way. The door opens and a girl and an older man walk in "See she's still asleep. Just the way I left her." The girl says to the man. I recognize her voice. "You must watch this one." He says and she puts a needle in my arm. I don't dare peek open my eyes. "Yeah yeah I know. Watch the 'chosen one'. I think its BS, plus she was always a bitch in my chemistry class." She says as they walk out the door. Oh my God. It's Meghan Baker. I flash back to seeing her in the street the day I found the amulet. She begins to shut the door before she turns around and spits at me. I don't flinch but I'm full of anger. She must be part of the Nexus. I don't feel so hot either. Luke..it's the Nexus..they are..But before I finish my sentence I start to doze off. About5 hours later I wake up to still be in the same room. Now my head is pounding. Luke.. Mia, what happened you said something about the Nexus and I haven't heard from you since.. They drugged me. Now where are you guys? I could see it was night now, maybe the wanted to be concealed. I try to sit up but all those drugs in your system does one on you. I hear some noises and lay back in the floor. I hear some whisper and one says "The room across from the bloody door." I try to steady my breathing but I'm way nervous. I hear a 1..2..3 and a silenced pop then the door pops open and Luke is kneeling next me. "Mia, are you okay?" I smile and nod yes. I hear someone yell "Come on we gotta move." And we are gone I wrap my arms around Luke's chest and he carries me till we are out of the building and into the forest. After about ½ mile everyone stops and I still feel sick. I know Luke is tired and Trix comes and takes me out of his arms. Luke looks at me and I nod my head, then me and Trix are off. The others stay to rest and Trix and someone I don't know keep moving but not to fast. He looks down at me and asks "Are you okay?" I nod yes and tell him I'm tired. He says okay and I notice a black truck that's probably how they got here. The guy sits in the front and me and Trix climb in the back he sits down and lets me sit on his lap with my head on his shoulder. I can't move my body at all except my arms but barely. "Trix I can't feel my body." He says, "It's from all of the drugs they have put in your system in the last few hours. Probably a muscle relaxer." He tells me covering me with a small blanket. I didn't realize I was in just an overly large T-shirt. We wait for about ten minutes when I hear the rest of the guys walking into the clearing. Luke hops in the back of the truck and after some stares Luke sits down and pulls me into his lap. Trix jumps down and hops in the passenger seat. "Are you okay?" Yeah, I just feel exhausted. "Did they touch you?" He asks tensely. No, I don't think so. "Good." He replies holding me closer. This is the first time we have talked in 2 weeks. I still haven't forgave him about the whole Carly Bishop thing. "I'm sorry." He whispers into my hair. I talk a deep breath..I forgive you. He sighs with relief as if the weight of the world was on his shoulders. Thank you for saving me. "Mia." He says pulling back and looking into my eyes. "I will always save you." He says and he kisses me on the forehead. I nuzzle back into his shoulder and fall asleep on the way back to HQ.
