Author's Note: So, this is the first piece of poetry I've ever published, or really shared with anyone but close friends. I probably wrote this 5 or 6 years ago, and it's sort-of part of a novel I've been trying to write for quite some time. I just wanted to try it out here and see what people thought of it.
Jazz in Running
It's the sound of a smooth, brassy horn
drifting on a sweet summer's eve, dancing
in your hart and beating in your mind, drifting
over the pleasant, breaking crests of calm
Its all relative, yet all separate in a
separate peace at a separate pace. Lonely,
yet content in that solitude, calm settles
in for a smooth landing in your heart, soul
and sandy beach chair.
Its Heaven without even thinking, Earth
without even knowing. Calm, Cool, under
control, like a smooth jazz song in
the gentle heat of a summer's night, or
under the hot lights.
Its here, now, and forever shall be
all at once, and for all.
Don't let the feeling go and just let
the peace flow, on to the future and
A bright night awakening, beckoning a new
Additional Author's Note: Perhaps not so obviously, what I was trying to do here was explain running as I've experienced it. It's one of my favorite past-times, as is (was; seriously need to practice again) being a jazz musician. I always felt that there was a certain synergy between the two, just as the two both have a certain synergy with nature. Please leave a review and let me know what you think of this, my first published piece of poetry.
Peace, and thanks for reading,
