While the Ocean Sighed

It was there by the sea that I watched.

"If each drop of the ocean was a tear,"

I thought,

"Why then, the ocean must have a

bleeding heart."

The waves lapped on.

"If each grain of the sand was a thought,"

I whispered.

"Why then, the ocean must never rest."

The waves lapped on.

"If each wave of the ocean was a wave goodbye,"

I sighed.

"Why then, it would never stop to cease to cry,

And the ocean must be so lonely."

And the waves lapped on.

I watched as the waves crashed over the rocks,

Roaring, gently, weeping, bleeding-

I watched as the ocean gathered herself and sighed,

And still, the waves lapped on.
