Written in 2008. Possibly in December.

Monochromatic

All the colors have faded away

To nothing but a dead

Gray

This is the color

That used to have a color

But as the years rolled by

As the toil took its toll

It is now

Gray

You look up at the sky

Among the dead twisted trees

And you see a dead

Gray

You pick out all the other colors

Red yellow or blue

Then your experiences start to create a shade

Becoming purple green or orange

Any other color really

Until everything suddenly stops

And it turns

Gray

My face is stone

Unchanging and unmoving

Throughout all those years

How can you not feel

I can't help it I say

Because my heart is

Gray

At the end of the year

The skies are blue or red or purple or yellow

But then they suddenly die

And all you see in December as the snow falls on your face, chilling you

Is

Gray

Then as you turn

Gray

Your body feels heavy

And you cannot lift it anymore

You say goodbye to everything

And you are prepared to leave

Then everything

Turns

Black
