NOTES: Funny story behind this paragraph of "authority." Our instructor asked us to jot two to three sentences of some topic/idea/thing/activity we were well versed in. People were volunteering to read aloud. Sometimes I get really into the spirit of things, so I was one who volunteered. I started with, "Okay, before I read this, I ask people not to freak out." I read my blurb and then after class my best friend said to me: "I know you were genuinely concerned that people would become uncomfortable, but you sounded kind of like an arrogant ass by the end of it." So, when I found this paper I kind of did a face palm. I honestly don't care what people think of me, but the fact my best friend had said, "Yeah, zombies are mainstream now" so flippantly really made me feel somewhat silly. Sometimes I just get carried away. Well, enjoy this blurb!
The concept of a "zombie" is something far greater than a corpse reanimated to eat the flesh of the living. The classic term of zombie comes from Haitian lore that embodies all that terrifies the human psyche—the unknown and uncontrollable. So, ask yourself my fellow humans, what is it that truly keeps you up at night; is it the fear of death, or the fear that death cannot be stopped?
