Why shouldn't I be allowed to be afraid of spiders on the wall?
Why shouldn't I be scared about an exam?
Why should I eat my peas?
Why shouldn't I cry myself to sleep?
Why shouldn't I answer back?
Why shouldn't I sulk in corners?
Why shouldn't I hold a grudge?
Why shouldn't I argue about petty things?
Why shouldn't I shout to be heard?
Why should I behave like an adult,
when you keep telling me I'm your baby?
But if only you knew what I live with;
the pain I carry with me;
the everyday burden on my shoulders.

You'd let me be afraid of the spiders.
