"You can't do this to me-not now!" Lormenski shouted over the roaring flames coming closer and closer to her. Acridus gave Lormenski one last loving look before diving into the flaming mess. Lormenski stared at the fire once more, and then collapsed on the burning ground-tears streaming out of her icy blue eyes. "And it was all because of a stone….."

"We have gathered here today to celebrate the communion of the three pairs of seekers, which will go out to The Journey Beyond Belief, to find the Legendary Golden Stone. We have been waiting a long time for this, as these young adult wolves have trained since they were six months old. Our elders greatly honor you." Sinkar dipped his head towards the elders, who dipped their heads back in respect. Sinkar continued. "The pairs of wolves are: Kreduk and Pency, Benser and Gastro, and finally, Acridus and Lormenski. We wish you good luck in your journey." Sinkar raised his chin and looked at the seekers, nodding his head slightly to them. They lowered their heads and, pair by pair, started to head towards the dark woods. Mothers' cried and said sobbing goodbyes and family members wished them many happy endings, until Guards of the pack guided them back to their dens. "I can't believe we are doing this," Lormenski whispered into Aridus'es ear. "Well, believe it, because it's right in front of you!" he replied, nuzzling her in comfort. Lormenski chuckled. "WHAT did you just say?!" Pency yelled, growling at her partner Kreduk. "I said we are probably better off going alone!" he shouted back. Pency rolled her eyes. "I heard what you said, but why would you think THAT?!" she barked, trying to win the verbal fight. Acridus laughed. "This could be a while," he remarked, starting to sniff the ground for food. "Because I CAN!" Kreduk growled, his fur rising into thick spikes. "Guys, if we fight now, we won't be able to get ten miles by sundown!" Benser interrupted, who apparently was sitting with Gastro. "At least SOMEBODY sees the goal of today!" Pency shouted, glaring at her partner before heading deeper into the woods with the others. "Well, it's defiantly not ME!" Kreduk shouted back, following Lormenski as she scented rabbit. Pency growled and shook her head. Gastro laughed. "And that there folks is the angered pair of the seekers." Pency growled and swiped at him, but missed and gruffed. Acridus chuckled under his breath, but then realized his partner and Kreduk were missing. He howled a communication cry, but there was no response. "Seekers, Kreduk and Lormenski are missing!" he exclaimed, trying to sniff the ground for their scent. "Do we really need them?" Pency mumbled, sitting down and watching bugs crawl over her paws. Gastro slapped her. "Of COURSE we need them! Do you want to go home or not?!" he growled, sniffing the ground with Acridus. "You could hear me?" Pency exclaimed, then realizing that she needed to answer his question. "Well, I think living away from little paws and bossy elders is wonderful, thank you very much!" Benser shook her head, and then caught an unfamiliar scent. "Um, Seekers? I smell something peculiar." Acridus and Gastro lifted their heads and sniffed the air as well. All of a sudden Gastro growled. "Follow me!" he shouted, following a trail that lead far away from the trail the Seekers were supposed to take. Pency huffed. "I'm just going to stay here, if you don't mind." Benser rolled her eyes as she followed her partner. The three Seekers finally arrived at the scene. After going through some tough, thorny, dead bushes, Gastro stepped into a small area, just big enough for a few wolves to come and rest during a long journey. Acridus and Benser followed in step behind him. But they didn't just find a dusty circle, but Lormenski being pushed to the ground by two front paws of a big male wolf. His eyes gleamed in the light coming from the trees above, and a slow laughter came from the creature. "Hahaha, what a surprise!" he said in a voice so deep and slightly ragged that it was almost like he was evil. "Zenko!" Acridus growled, standing up a little straighter and puffing out his chest fur to look stronger. "You KNOW this wolf?!" Lormenski shouted softly, looking up at her partner with pleading eyes. "Be quiet, Seeker!" Zenko said, pushing hard on the female's neck and sinking his claws in for a moment before letting go. Lormenski gave one last breath before going unconscious and her body lying still, with her stomach barely even moving up and down. "What do you want from us? And where is Kreduk?" Gastro demanded, standing in front of Benser protectively. "Oh, I haven't hurt him," Zenko replied, circling the group until he had herded them to the center of the clearing. "I just sent him to the Boulders." Benser gasped. "But he will DIE there!" Acridus exclaimed, putting his tail up in shock. "Precisely…." Another wolf appeared, and had a gray coat, which seemed white under a light in the trees. "Who are you?" Benser demanded, staying close to her partner as possible. "Oh, I'm just a little guard of Zenko's pack, who loves to have a nice little fight," the wolf replied, scooting close to her alpha. "You are an ALPHA?!" Acridus growled his voice loud and deep. "Why of course dear brother," Zenko replied, smiling manically at the dark brown wolf before him. "BROTHER?!" Pency exclaimed, who thought something was going on if the others didn't come back yet, and followed their scent. She was now standing beside Acridus. "Why yes! And an alpha needs to punish any sibling of his that has strayed into territory of another." Zenko replied, staring the female in the eyes. "Are you prepared to fight?" A pure black wolf entered into the clearing, followed by fighters of all sizes and colors, their teeth gleaming. The Seekers growled, and the fight began. Acridus was trying to get the neck of a dark brown female, while Gastro and Benser were fighting off a few wolves that had jumped into the fight not too long ago. Pency was apparently hiding in the bushes. She watched the fight with curious eyes until a peculiar scent flowed through her nose. Kreduk, she realized, and followed the scent as fast as she could. Her paws barely kissed the ground as she ran. Finally she arrived at a cold, dark tunnel. "Kreduk?" she cried into the tunnel. "What are you just standing there for? Come in here!" a vicious growl responded. Pency tenses, but decided to enter. She was in the middle of the tunnel until a dark figure loomed over her head. "You better wish you wouldn't have come in…." It said with a low and ragged voice. But before Pency could react…
